Next England manager

You're phrasing it to suit your agenda. I never said anything about embracing mediocrity. I mentioned having respect for the efforts of some very limited players, while being disappointed they got eliminated. Some teams have better players and more money than others and are therefore should do better. As far ignoring other teams, maybe you could just you know ignore those fans who "sneer" at England? I'm as bored with you as you seem to be with me in instance, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Every year in the FA Cup or League Cup some non-league club perform some kind of minor giant-killing and then get a tie against another much bigger club.

It's not anything special or remarkable though. Fans and clubs should only care about actually winning it, nothing else matters. Even if you're Hereford.

England needs a manager with balls.
Example Conte subbed DeRossi yesterday in the middle of the 2ND half. Never would have happened with England. Despite someone like Rooney being crap
He was injured.
Limped off and had ice on his knee at the end celebrations.

Amazing but true: Woy's already had an offer to manage in the Chinese Super League.

Luckily China isn't a country with any obvious delicate cultural issues.

He'll probably kick off a new Sino- Japanese war after about 3 weeks.

"Obviouwlsy there's a strength in depth that wasn't there previously in China, so this game won't be another Wape of Nangking"

He's Scottish! We can't have any foreigners managing England teams, it doesn't work in any other sport or country and won't work here.

Although English is a prefrence, the lack quality managers is always going to be an issue and so (its been reported) that Ashworth is considering managers who have expereince of working in Premier league.

Bloody hell that guy is SO blinkered. He starts by saying, 'I don't really know what I'm doing here, I would've thought my statement last night would have sufficed'.

No way!

I can't believe that people are thinking of him. Well it was that sozzled tit Alan Brazil and Ray Wilkins along with some bookie employee who were cheering for Glenn this morning.

He hasn't managed for 10 years. He last managed Wolves.

We will get Gareth Southgate. An FA yes man and a safe choice for an establishment that has no clue. He will fail, he will be told by them he did a good job and so the circle will continue.

You know what, Sven was criminally underrated as our manager. No manager could win us a World Cup with the attitudes that we show off and on the pitch and in the FA. But he regularly got us to QF's and whilst the style was not inspiring, he got results.

I don't think they'll go for Southgate. They're spooked, and they don't want to gamble with their own futures. Go for him and they'll get the blame. Go for a big name and the big name will get it. They'll want a big name if they can get it.

Oh and Woy was the highest paid manager at the tournament.

Sit back and just let that sink in. Then listen to his post game press conferences. Actually don't, it might stir people from their apathy.

Roy's epitaph really should be "I don't know what I'm doing here".

Hoddle's win ratio was better. In fact no England manager of the modern era has had a better one than he did. That said, I'm not a fan of going back to a previous incumbent to fill any managerial vacancy. What about Wenger in a year's time, with Southgate (and maybe a DOF-type figure) keeping the seat warm meanwhile?

Last night ssn were constantly bigging up Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew & Harry Redknapp.

When you're looking at a list of potential managers & Harry Redknapp looks the clear favourite then it's not a very good list.

I don't think the fa will give it to Harry because of his previous tax issues & the stigma attached.

Agree, plus he's that bit older and, while he hasn't fully retired from the game, he hasn't actually been managing in the meantime. If they weren't going to give it to him when they appointed Hodgson they aren't going to now.

I keep hearing Wenger mentioned, but I have no idea why he would even contemplate the job.

That idiot bloke from the FA yesterday made a point of saying 'he or SHE' when discussing the next manager. So get ready to welcome Clare Balding.

Why wouldn't Wenger want it? Leaves the Arse, poss.finds himself at a loose end, highly paid job offer involving pressure at tournament time but very little in between, and lots of foreign travel. I suspect he's also pretty vain and, if so, the kudos of managing a country would particularly appeal to him.

Wenger would be a big improvement. No one suffers so well from the sidelines. The sight of him in a Fawlty-esque crouch as the next batch of cowardly Englishmen crumble in a big game will certainly be a step up from Hodge in his short sleeved shirt rubbing his face.
