Napoli away

We've been alright in Europe at least this season. The performances haven't brilliant but at least we've tended to win.

Napoli are a good side however and a couple levels above what the teams we've played so far, so it's going to be a difficult evening. Not looking forward to it.

What Keni said. I pray in vain for performance and , more importantly, a win - just to generate some confidence in the team. Just can't see it.

Having seen the squad, I've changed my mind. I now think we're going to lose. Probably 2-0 again.

Good. That will mean Budgie's sacked.
I doubt it. If losing to Blackpool and Northampton at home doesn't get you the sack, I'm not sure why losing away to Napoli would. He'll be given at least one more PL game, I think.

We will probably loose this one big time. The performances in Europe has been very poor, and that against much worse teams than Napoli.

Considering how poor we've been do you really thing that we have a chance against Blackburn with 9 men (not counting Torres and Maxi because they are doing nothing for us at the moment)?

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson flies off-key Liverpool to Italy

There are many ways to lift a team in crisis. Train harder, for example. Or appoint a new manager. Or go on a team-bonding boot camp.

Liverpool, however, have taken a slightly different route. They have been flown to Naples for their Europa League game against Napoli on Thursday by the Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson. Iron Maiden have had hits such as Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter and, of course, Number of the Beast, although it is unclear whether the 52-year-old performed any of these songs before take-off or landing.

"I would like to see Liverpool winning again," Dickinson told the Liverpool Echo. "They have had a hard time recently but they are such an institution and mean so much to so many people. It would be nice to see them with their tails up."

Liverpool fans need not to worry, however, as Dickinson has been a pilot for over 10 years and regularly flies the Iron Maiden band members around the world when they are on tour. He had flown from Iceland to Orlando on Sunday night before taking the Liverpool team to Italy this morning.

Dickinson added: "When I was five, I had Airfix kits like everyone other boy, but I was always too busy doing music. Once I did find the time to fly I was completely hooked. I am not sure how I became a captain of an aeroplane."

When asked whether he preferred singing or flying, he said: "I don't know – that is one of those questions, like which one of your kids would you throw out of a hot-air balloon. Iron Maiden fans would lynch me if I stopped singing."

I think Budgie's tastes are probably more Foster & Allen.

Gilbert and Sullivan more like.

Poulsen for all his critics has after all played at highest level for 12-years and has even played well for quite a few Seasons. I'd be absolutely mystified if he at least doesn't improve himself in our coming games.
In the short time I've been a poster on this site, I've noticed you have a soft-spot for Poulsen and consider yourself something of an expert on Scandinavian football. Am I on the money or way off target?

Anyway, we've got no Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt, Johnson, Agger, Meireles. We're going to really struggle and I'm not looking forward to it.

Welcome to 6CM Paul. FWIW - I agree mate - I think we're getting a spanking tomorrow.

No doubt about that. Hopefully Shelvey will be playing, just so that we'll have something to be excited about. Even Lucas has been left behind..

Just realised that Meireles isn't going either.

Mental. So basically it'll be Spearing and Poulsen?

That is a weird squad selection, given the pressure Hodgson's under. If we lose this 4-0 or something, it would be very hard not to sack him. I almost wonder if it's a kind of professional suicide note. 'Please put me out of my misewy...'

Three "presumed" Liverpool fans injured overnight in Naples, attacked by local yobs in 3 separate incidents. Two stabbed and one with head injuries. No-one seriously hurt.
3 Napoli ultras arrested.
Here's the link in Italian for the polyglots.

Napoli's ultras are just as scummy as the worst Serie A has to offer - Eg: Lazio.... they are drug-fueled, testosterone-driven, economically-frustrated bunch of maniacs.

But this incident does come as a surprise as last season a group of Napoli ultras came to Anfield to watch the Merseyside Derby, and from what I know - developed favourable relationships with our fans.

I know that the Napoli ultras have a good relationship with Genova and Roma ultras - who despise the English - so maybe they had something to do with this.

Any team news yet?

Yes. We are without 7 senior players, but luckily we come from as good performance as we have ever witnessed under Roys regime, so the confidence is sky high!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
