This has come up in the past and I've always thought that if you know for a fact that player x is shit, why should it be so concerning to test a player out in case he might be shit.

because then the board will realise you put two shit players onto the wage bill, instead of just the one

Really looking forward to this match.

Things to expect from this match:

1. One hell of an atmosphere at the San Paolo.

2. Napoli's key players:

Christian Maggio - signed from Sampdoria on the back of a very impressive season in 2007-08. Can play as a right winger or right back, but has been used on the left lately- has brilliant fitness and runs relentlessly up and down the wing, and this could be a big problem for us given our weakness at left and right back.

Marek Hamsik - I'm sure everyone knows about this guy. The creative outlet for the side, if on song, has the ability to destroy the best defences Europe has to offer. Cutting off the supply to Hamsik is the key, because if he is given the opportunity to run at us with the ball then we are in big trouble. Thrives off intricate 1-2's with Lavezzi and Cavani around the box.

Edison Cavani - Uruguayian striker who is hitting solid form of late. Pure class. Along with Pastore (Palermo), the best striker going around outside the traditional big 4 of Roma, Milan, Juve, Inter. His movement is his strength - runs all across the backline so he is very difficult to pickup at times.

Thanks for that Roopy. I can't say I'm really looking forward to this though, I only care about us scraping together a couple wins in the league, that has to be the urgent priority. Accordingly, our "B team" as hodgson says, is going to get raped eventually in the competition.

Win, lose or draw Roy has to go. Hope the board has the balls to fucking sack him. We're running out of time now.

Cheers. I'll watch it although i have a feeling it will be every bit as horrible as our away performance v Fiorentina last season.

Gerrard and Nando left out

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has left both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres out of his travelling squad for tomorrow night's Europa League clash in Naples.

With one eye on this weekend's vital Barclays Premier League game against Blackburn, the Reds' boss has opted to leave his star duo behind on Merseyside to give them maximum preparation time ahead of Sunday's fixture.

Hodgson is also without Glen Johnson (injury) and Daniel Agger (illness) for the trip to Italy, but Christian Poulsen is fit to return to the squad after missing Sunday's defeat to Everton.

Liverpool squad: Reina, Jones, Hansen, Konchesky, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Wilson, Carragher, Kelly, Spearing, Poulsen, Shelvey, Maxi, Babel, Jovanovic, Pacheco, Eccleston, Cole, Ngog.

Having seen the squad, I've changed my mind. I now think we're going to lose. Probably 2-0 again.
[/quote]

Good. That will mean Budgie's sacked.
