Destroying our midfield by selling the class players we had in there has done massive massive damage to the team. We need that defensive shield in the middle to enable us to compete and win games, tellingly for me when Adams accidentally elbowed Lucas (who played well IMO) in the second half and Lucas started complaining and crying about it I got to thinking we have got no tough or imposing players with a bit of grit and nastiness in them and we need that... we were pushovers in midfield last night.

On the plus side the effort from all was clear and the sleeves were rolled up and i doubt very much if anybody would have thought it was unfair if we had have got a point....

But fucking hell against Blackpool a point!!

Investment is needed in the side and confidence, I know Kenny can give the latter im just praying the FSG do the former. Even though we lost it was nice to see that finally after 2 whole years of bickering and royally fucking things up we are at last united fans and team together, as the song says i'm sure even in the middle of this the shittest storm ive ever seen as a Liverpool fan there will be a golden sky at the end of it.

Poulsen was shit man. TWICE, yes TWICE, Charlie 'Aaron Lennon' Adams blew by him and he couldn't do anything. Lucas is BETTER than him because he's faster, better in the air and can make the same passes sideways too. He's not good enough for Liverpool's 1st 11 in any era - maybe from the Tom Watson era. He should be on our bench until season's end where he'll get flogged off. Horrific signing by Roy ... Absolutely horrific.

I know Poulsen is 'shite' on here by deafult but he was still one of the only players last night in midfield able to actually pass the ball to an opponent.

Ha ha I know you didn't mean this, but it's funny nonetheless.
[/quote]

Hahaha talk about a freudian slip.... ;D

Anways Poulsen's use of the ball was better than anyone else in midfield last night. He made a few crucial interceptions but we agree he's awfully slow loooking. Still wouldn't mind him ahead of Lucas in a game where I'd want us to enjoy as much possession as possible. They are pretty similar Lucas is just giving the ball away more often.

Was watching it on a stream that kept freezing. I thought he was far from being our worst player (not sure if thats praise or not). LFCTV commentator John Bradley selected him as our MOM

He's not Liverpool standard.

He wasn't that bad last night.

If you couldn't see that mate then your goggles must be greasy or perhaps you've just already made your mind up on him regardless? Either way I'm not trying to find excuses for him he just wasn't that bad last night and was mostly able to find a TEAMMATE everytime he was on the ball.

Fucking hell KHL. And Saric on the bench too? If they weren't Danish... Oh nevermind.

Ken and Spidey, many hundreds of talented youngsters have played and blossomed at clubs other than Arsenal, indeed, have blossomed in teams full of crap pros. Adam Hammill, one of the hottest young prospects out there, and someone we negligently let go, learned his trade as a teen at clubs struggling in difficult situations in difficult leagues. One of our key problems has been a lack of technique in the final third. Not only in terms of not hitting the killer pass, but having the composure and technique to hold the ball up, to alleviate or to build pressure. We have the players who can do that at reserve level, let's give them a chance to show they can do a better job than the 'crap pros'. What is the worst that can happen? We lose some games? We're doing that right now, so I don't see how it can go much worse. Blackpool fielded a 17 year old last night who caused us lots of problems. The player was full of energy and belief. We have players like that too if we are prepared to take a wee gamble.

These kids won't be shattered if they have a bad game or two, they are dying for a chance to prove themselves. I'd like us to give them a chance.

I can't comment on last night but when I've seen him live this season he's been awful. Your natural Danish bias is clouding your judgement

I must be seriously damaged then. I watched the EXACT same game as you guys (I guess) but didn't see Poulsen have a mare, nor look completely out of his depths either. He was decent without impressing, but 'decent' in that game made him one of our better performers, mostly because he didn't constantly give away possession.

He's NOT one for the future nor has he shown anything to suggest he'll be around next Season but all of your comments about his game could've jsut as well been posted pre-game as they certainly indicate you either 1) didn't watch the game or 2) just spouts the same about player X match in match out regardless of performance.

The reason for me to suggest Saric on the bench is that 1) N'gog looks completely derived for confidence and has been very poor in his last five or six games 2) Eccleston has gone and 3) we could do with some new blood.

Pacheco and Suso should definitely be there and to suggest the first striker on the team-sheet for the Reserves shouldn't be regarded as strange at all unless of course you've seen him play a lot and knows he's not good enough. Is that the case?

That sadly sums things up. Occasionally this season Lucas has played well. Occasionally he has played well - for him, which equates to fairly average at best. Yesterday he was average - at best.
Poulsen was average -at best ( so played well by his standards), Miereles was average at best , Kuyt was average - at best. Jovanovic was yes, you've guessed , average-at best. The only one of those who is capable of actually being worthwhile to the team is Miereles.
The worry is that so far this season Cole and Rodriques also come into that category too. That's why we need at least two players in the window, and that is without starting on the defence.

Torres and AN Other

Maxi/cole AN Other
Miereles Gerrard

Fair enough mate.

I'm just feeling very vulnerable today... like a newly born kitten or something.... thought last night was the night that we came back on track.

How wrong I was.

Not sure about last night,Kris..didnt watch the game.

But the 2 previous times I've watched him at Anfield he was comfortably the worst player on the pitch.

The scores he's been getting in the ratings thread does suggest that you saw a different game though.

Have you changed your mind about him?

I watched it mate, and Poulson was grim. Adam et al glided past him so many times it was untrue. For a supposed DM it was a disgraceful display.

Skysports rated him as one our least bad players actually. There's probably a fair few in the ratings thread who didn't catch the game either mind.. 😉

I've changed my mind about him yeah. Thought he could do a job for us, but has been rather horrified with his cumbersome-ness and general lack of movement. Didn't remember him as beeing as weak in his challenges either. He's still a footballer however and last night he was one of few who didn't constantly give away cheap possession however. That's all I'm saying.

And that's the main point. Not the fact that he managed to complete a few passes.

Lucas looked involved last night, which is why some are perhaps saying he played well. The game just passed Poulsen by and given his job, that means he pretty much gets a zero.

That part of his game is almost not present I agree. He did break up a few attacks - one that led to our goal mind - but otherwise I agree.

However it wasn't what lost us the game last night in my opinion, that was down to a lot of our players looking like amateurs whenever on the ball constantly giving away possession. We are Liverpool and supposed to enjoy a lot of the ball but more than one player last night looked like they almost disliked it.

lucas was the best player in the midfield yesterday. okay, the midfield consisted of lucas, miereles, jove and kuyt but it is what it is, lucas was the best of the quartet.

If you'd have read what I said I didn't even point to last night. I asked you to admit he's fucking awful - which he is - but you simply cannot to due to your constant and unfounded Danish player allegiance that also makes you think Bendtner is a quality player. I said when I've seen him play he's shite - which he is. And yeh, I didn't see last night but, to be honest, it's unlikely I needed to because I realise and understand he's garbage. Out of all the Danish players you pipe on about only Agger has any type of quality about him and he's made out of candy floss as well, the fucking crock.

He's been awful in loads of games and I've had no problem saying so. But why on earth should I say it after every game he's played even in those where he actually wasn't? Are you serious or are you taking the piss?

Anyways what other Danish players are you referring to Sunny? Kjær, Eriksen, Hangeland (Norwegian) or Zanka?

Saric perhaps? He's got a big talent and we snapped him up when he was very young, these kind of bets is always tricky but it's not like he's costed us a gazillion and if it wasn't for injuries who knows - he might even be close to the first team by now.

Sunny, you log on here and ask me to 'admit someone's fucking awful' in a thread about last nights game and then you've got the audacity to even wonder why I think it's a bit strange to spout those kind of comments without you even having seen the game?

What's your purpose?

Out of the lot playing yesterday only Reina, Agger and Torres looked remotely Liverpool-material. Add Carra and Gerrard to that list and there's more than a little work lying ahead of Kenny and the club.

Hopefully a few good wins will restore confidence in our players and improve performances. Fingers crossed.
