Midweek Games

Man Utd - Bayern is going to be a very thight game. It's deluded to think that Bayern won't score in this tie. Robben, Ribery and Olic have all got great pace to burn, and they will hit Utd on the counter plenty of times.

Utd are great side with Rooney starting, but they lack that extra edge without him.

I think Bayern will sneak through tonight.

I'll wager Man U to win this even without Rooney. It'll be great though if they lead 3-1, start the high-fiving in extra-time and get a sucker punched. A controversial penalty award or better yet a Ratface own goal.

United is the only English team in CL this year, with a chance of going to the Semi Final or higher. Make no mistake, i want them out pronto, but this is a far cry from the dominance English teams had over the last five years.

Is this the end of dominance in Europe for English teams? I thought it would last a bit longer.....

If United don't raise their game from the pale shadow of themselves that they were against the Chavs, I agree. One thing I'd put money on is that it won't be a walkover for either side, as some are suggesting it may be for ManUre.

JUst saw the Arsenal game highlights. If Arsenal could have cleared the ball competently they wouldn't have been so soundly battered.

messi is awesome but arsenal definately made it easy for them and if diaby wasn't so headless I think they would have been 2-0 up.

Yep. Sometimes hoofing makes a lot of fucking sense if they attack in large numbers.

arsenal could defend for shit they could have drawn barca onto them and released walcott over the top, not pretty but what other use is there for walcott?

Barcelona cause such chaos in the box that it's seemingly quite a regular occurence to defenders bumbling about and failing to clear their lines. And you see similar patterns deeper in midfield as well as Barcelona pressed and harried for the ball constantly. Arsenal players could rarely take more than one touch without being closed down and so mistakes are made.

I seem to recall rafa's valencia doing the same to us.

Surprised a few people on here seem to think United going through tonight is a foregone conclusion. It's far from it.

Whilst Bayern could easily collapse at the back, they still have 3 or 4 players that can nick them a goal or two.

I think it will be tight, wouldn't rule out extra-time.

ronney starts? the tide has swung massively in manu's favor then.
[/quote]

Yep apprently Rooney has know since Sunday that he would start. Fergie just playing the games with the press. Although it's a huge risk on his fitness. He is nowhere near fully fit.

I bet fergie thinks he's a fucking genius with his "mindgames". I hope rooney gets injured again but this time for 18 months or so.

I know, lets hope it backfires big time. If i where a bayern defender I would kick the fucker in the ankle, give it a little test.

+1.

Although we need United to beat the likes of Citeh and Spurs. So whilst I hope they go out tonight, lets not wish too much bad on them (for now).

you can't argue with fergie's success but he strikes me as someone who puts glory ahead of a players walfare. why should he give a shit when they become fucked because they are rushed back too quickly, he can always sell them on.

Would be interesting to see Ferguson v. Capello if Shrek picks up a more serious injury tonight.
However, Rooney's fitness record isn't bad I believe, so it might be a good move for MU.
