Mane's form, again

I've seen multiple articles (year in review, half season review types) stating Mane is back to his best form. I'm wondering what on earth they are watching. His numbers aren't terrible but anyone actually watching him play can see he's miles off his best.

He still takes players on so I don't quite buy the fact that he's lost his explosiveness. We just don't see it as much. He just seems quite conservative and indecisive a lot of the time... combine that with the flakey passing and control and you end up with quite a frustrating player.

I can't quite remember when teams decided to switch to the low block approach to try and counter us but I wonder if that has anything to do his decline.

It's the indecision and decision making that kills me. He's not as explosive but he still gets in positions; he's just fucking shite when he's there

Yes I agree with you and Keni - his bad decision making is costing us big time

He's got 10 minutes to make me look a tit, but lucky to be on the pitch, scored a goal, missed 2 other chances, passing erratic, and fucking stupid decisions again.

I think Mane was actually good today. Our main threat and outlet in attack by far. I think you guys are harsh sometimes.

Mane was poor. He found himself in dangerous positions continually, But continually strived to make the worst possible decision.

I'd say AFCON is the time to play himself into form, but tbh he hasn't so far and he's started nearly every game

It's tough to rate him positive - when he continually messes up with his decision making. Everything until then is great but that last bit - the pass, or the cross, or the shot is more than often off nowadays.

[article]For Mané (or, more accurately, the Mané of the previous two seasons), you’d need a goalscorer with pace to run in behind off the left flank and the technical ability to carry the ball past opponents in tight spaces and create chances from out wide. The complete winger, basically.[/article]

https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/...na-sign-sadio-mane-order-extend-nou-camp-stay

[article]ESPN’s Jorge Ramos has revealed that the 34-year-old did have some other demands for him to stay.

One of those was for Barca to sign Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane. Messi wanted the squad strengthened significantly, and Mane was part of that upgrade.

The report adds that Messi rates the Senegal star very highly and that initial talks did take place. However, the discussions were short and sweet as Anfield chiefs had no intention of selling.

Liverpool are said to have demanded a large sum for Mane, while being fully aware of Barca’s financial struggles.

Mane, who led Senegal to African Cup of Nations glory against Reds teammate Mo Salah on Sunday, currently has 18 months left on his contract.

The report finishes by stating that Barcelona are unlikely to renew their interest in the winger. All their focus next summer is expected to be on trying to bring Erling Haaland to the club.[/article]

Right.

So Barcelona has no money to pay its own players but it's going to sign Haaland.

They must have cut some serious money off the wage bill in the last 18 months

Messi, Suarez, Griezman, Coutinho, Aguero, Vidal, Rakitic all gone. Dembele to go in the summer. Gotta well over £100m saving in wages

Get ready for the day after, retrospective posts about Mane being shite and what a greedy bugger he was.

But seriously what a player he is and was, only player compareable to Barnes for me.
Jordan Ibe is better

[article]‘I think I told you about the generous gesture that Sadio Mané made in Bafoussam in favour of a family,’ declared a guest on the set of a Cameroonian channel, Equinoxetv, after the coronation of Senegal.

‘The latter was in distress because a motorcycle had hit their child who had broken bones and injuries all over his body; he was close to death and his parents could not afford to pay for treatment.

‘Sadio, who was in this hospital (because he was being treated there after his shock against Cape Verde) finds this grieving family and asks them what is going on.

‘We explain the situation to him and he gave them 400,000 FCFA which relieved this family.

‘I believe that this blessing was rewarded today by GOD.’

Mane, who won AFCON player of the tournament, is known for his charitable work

Mane is known for his talent on the pitch and his work in his hometown Bambali where he has previously paid to help a school being built back in 2019.

The Premier League star also previously donated £41,000 to the FCFA, a health body fighting coronavirus in Senegal.

Therefore it appears he was not only the stand-out player on the pitch after being named the player of the tournament, but also away from it, with his generous actions. [/article]

❤️ Love it!

Sadio living up to the Senegal nickname of "the Lions of Teraanga". (or the Lions of Hospitality, Generosity and Warmth, translated to English)

https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20201115-teraanga-the-word-that-defines-senegal

"Characterised by generosity, hospitality and warmth, teraanga is everywhere in Senegal, and has helped shape the nation’s identity."

He truly is OUR Lion.

The Lion, The Magician and The Egyptian King. For winning us that 1st title in 30 years (+CL, WCC) , they'll ALWAYS be Legends in my book.

.. Just so long as none of them go on to play for United lmao.
