Mane's form, again

Mane deservedly MotM. Has Klopp done it again ? Mane seems reinvented+reinvigorated through the centre.

I thought mane was distinctly average today. First goal a better keeper wouldn't have allowed and the second the keepers positioning was shite.

He's playing better centrally, but that's solely because his legs have gone and looks abysmal wide

Well every goal is someone's fault but for the first it was very similar to Edison last weekend. Edison got away with it because Jota wasn't as awake (too late closing down) but Mane was right on Steffen. For his second I don't think any other keeper would have expected him to hit it on the volley near post (and when he hit it Steffen's feet were off the ground as he was moving to his right) so it's a little bit of a disservice to blame the keeper, IMO.
Mane also kept possession a lot better in this game (I've been highly critical of him this season in this regard) and brought other players into the game. Mo should have scored from his excellent pass too. I've often been critical of Mane this season as I think he's declined, however today, and through the middle, he really stepped up.

He and diaz worked their socks off today. Thought both were great. Dunno how salah stayed on the pitch.

It's almost like Mane is on a personal Rocky Balboa-like mission or something. Just working himself into form through sheer hard work and tunnel focus. No over-zealous celebrations. Completely switched on and total 100% focus when on pitch. When off-pitch, you see he finally breathes a sigh of relief, breaks out of character and reverts to his humble, down-to-earth self again.

Mo can learn a thing or two from Mane this time.

Completely agree.

He's been distinctly average previously. But I'm sensing a turnaround in form. Very good against Benfica, good against City(a) and now very good again today.

Moh, on the other hand has been very average lately. Probably deserves to be dropped, going by the form of others. But admittedly, there's no real competition for him on the RW (everyone else appears to be shite out there - see Arsenal game)

I think Mo would likely benefit from a game down the center or more switching.

He is being defended really well lately, since his early season form and often double and triple teamed. He is also definitely not at his best, but a little more freedom down the middle would likely get him on the scoresheet and get his mojo back.

Mane played very well there until Mo joined, so we know he would likely do alright there down the right if needed.

I think Mane has played generally well all season even when not scoring. Yes his legs seem to have gone a bit but he's still pressing and harrassing opposition players quite well. Diaz coming in is a smart move because Mane looks dangerous in the middle. I like his new role a lot.

He is actually just right for that main striker position, he still has that burst of pace, and knows how to bring in the wing play given his experience on both sides. But what makes him so impossible to defend against is his unpredictability, and his ability to score. As a defender you don't know how to mark him or where he is going to go, he ain't gonna just stand there waiting for the ball, he is the ultimate hybrid of Jota/Bobby - I think that current front 3 combination is the best right now. Can't wait till we play that combo (Diaz/Mane/Salah) against Chelsea. Also be honest - none of you know what he is going to do - do you ?

He just hardly ever smiles..
It's like he's either completely miserable and pissed off at being here...
Or he's so focussed on the end goal a sublime pass to set up Salah and a ridiculous goal for himself doesn't mean he gets excited..
It's part of the job, scored a few set up a few.. picked up three points.
Who we playing next.

It’s been said before, but Mane can be a bit of a streaky player.

He’s such an instinctive player and you can see he’s hitting the ball and passing first time without overthinking it - the complete opposite of his recent “slump”.

Same with Salah - both back in the grove at the right time.

It's just weird that he doesn't seem to get the love from the Anfield crowd that he deserves

(I'm talking singing his name the way they do Mo, Bobby or Jota)

He's loving life through the middle, which is great to see and also gives us the opportunity to get Diaz or Jota down the left.

Changing weekly opinions of Mane last 2 years.

Mane doesn't score: "Let's not renew his contract, he's past it, sell him and run".

Mane scores a goal: "I've always rated Sadio Mane, what a player".

The disrespect he was getting on here pre Xmas was a pisstake, I've seen the same from a few recently about Salah.

You're going to get some natural decline, but the flapping and impulsive "sell" bollocks is riseable. There's a reason we now challenge on all fronts and continue to beat teams when one striker is out of form, because another striker will always step up until that player finds form again.

They also play A LOT of football, so will always have purple patches and slumps. It's normal. People need to be thankful for where we are at and not be using match threads to witch-hunt the latest drop off in form. Same old. Some posters are righteous, ungrateful pricks.

When he does smile it’s catching ..
I think he’s just so focused when he plays ..
