Mentioned him a few times as a one of the up n' coming defenders in France. He barely played last year as Ancelotti favored Silva (duuuh) & Alex. We were linked with him in the last year, and it seems if he decides to leave, we'll be amongst the interested. Will be a very good signing ... A player who can be a star.

The 23-year-old has spent his entire career to date with his home-town club, having graduated out of their academy system.

The France international has, however, been a victim of an elaborate rebuilding project at Parc des Princes under PSG's ambitious owners.

He has not been figuring in the first team as often as he would like and concedes that he needs to be playing regularly.

Liverpool and AC Milan are among those reported to be keen on offering him the game time he craves, but PSG are also prepared to do all they can to keep the highly-rated centre-half in France.

Sakho said: "I have to take a decision. PSG are my club. I was born here and learnt my football here.

"I want to play for this club my entire life but it has to be clear that I don't want to sit on the bench.

"I did not play as much I like last season because of the manager's choices. Every player wants to play every week and I am no different.

"There is an offer on the table. With a new manager (Laurent Blanc), I can talk and see what he thinks.

"I am flattered to be linked with clubs of the history of Liverpool and AC Milan. We will see what happens in the near future."

I think Sakho is a better fit for us than Papa, but I would be surprised if we get him. Probably one of the best mobile CB options around though, alongwith N'Koulou and Mangala.

(1) Led PSG with 162 clearances, and also blocked 21 shot attempts, third most in Ligue 1
(2) In 27 total appearances (24 starts), Sakho was dribbled past just 3 times, the lowest amount of any PSG player
(3) Completed 91.6% of his pass attempts, 3rd most in Ligue 1, & completed 83.6% of his pass attempts over 25 yards

@Binny, Is #3 among CB/defenders or all players?

If that was in the entire league, I can't see why we're not after him, especially if Sakho has an interest in a move.
 
Has told PSG that he wants to leave, L'Equipe says we'll make a formal bid this week along with AC Milan.
 
Didnt see the new thread. Very good alternative to Papadopolous. Similar types of player.
Fits in with our transfer strategy aswell, i e Coutinho and Sturridge.

Has all the potential in the world but need a change of scenary to maximize it.
For the right fee I'd replace Skrtel with this lad.

It's amongst all players. Capoue was the player with most clearances (171) in Ligue 1 last season.

1 more stat to add:
84 – Mamadou Sakho won 84 aerials duels in Ligue 1 2012/13, more than any other PSG player.
 
He wants to go, is young, decent, and good in the air.

Test a 6m bid
 
He and Toure would certain negate the risk of those big power centre forwards who always bitch us about.

This is really could be a signing like coutinho or sturridge as hansern mentioned ... Young, oozes quality, struggling to get an opportunity at a big club and eager for a shot ... Excellent purchase if we can push it through.

I hope so, because I like him. But with Milan in Europe, Thiago Silva and Zlatan to advise him about Milan, and Milan as a city in general, all point towards that being the better option. Plus I think he'd be a starter for Milan anyway.

Yeah but there were apparently looking for help from sponsor to fund their bid to bring in Honda earlier instead of waiting till his contract ends in Jan, so not sure if they will have the cash to splash on a position where they are stocked in.
 
Sakho is more left footed than Agger.
If we are trying to buy him I wouldn't be surprised if it as a replacement for Danny rather than as a team mate
