Thing for me with Johnson is if his primary value is in attack, and he's basically worthless if he isn't contributing to the attack. Any one of our young RBs could do a comparable job in defense, which is why it's a real challenge to find a reason justifying keeping Johnson in the side if he's off form.
I'd like to see us at least get some like for like competition for Lucas, but we probably aren't going to move him as long as we still have Suarez. Maybe a reasonable cost option like Tiote would be a smart purchase.

Lucas is not as bad as people make out, but we should always be thinking about improvements - think Delph would be interesting, a mad engine on him, can pass and seems to have a bit of spike about him.
Its all games including pre-season going back to April.
Take them out if you want.

Some of our players are as good as the ones we had then. I reckon Gerrard and Suarez and Sturridge and Coutinho would be pushing for a place in any of our old sides. There's a few more who would be worth a debate on various European Cup winning squads.

Im not in control of who plays, who signs, who goes. So I just try to support the lads when they are here and in the most part hope for miracles. I think hes a good player. Not a great player and certainly not one of our all time greats. But thats ok, it doesnt make me want to lay into him for not being good enough. The CLUB isnt good enough.
If we we t out and signed Bender, Mascherano or any other worldie DM i'd want them in the team ahead of him, but we dont. We have Lucas. Who good or bad has given fucking everything he has for us for 7 years through fucking thick and thin. Hes played every game as hard as he can, and seen the European cup winning side he came into dismantled and asset stripped around him and never once complained about it. Players like Lucas and Agger in the main part get a bye from criticism from me. That isnt to say im a fucking mug and wouldnt replace them, but id replace others first. Ones who really couldnt give a fuck about this club or me or their team mates. Players like these two and Dirk deserve my fandom, so they get it.
I like them. I like them as men and I like them as representatives of something that means a lot to me. Thats why I call him Wonderman. I like you wish he played like Beckenbauer. I unlike you will continue to support him as if he does.

You show up a lot, but never manage to contribute anything positive. Just lots of clumsy fouls.
Oh right. So he's crap but he works hard or whatever. I don't think he works that hard. He's no Dirk in that respect. Maybe he does and I'm blinded by his total shitness. Either way I loved Dirk not because he worked hard but because that work was effective. I just don't get it with Lucas.
