Lucas is staying

True, but isn't it a bit questionable to talk in terms of his 'current form'? It seems to me he's finally got to grips with his fitness, and now he's back to being a really decent defensive midfielder.

The name was given to me. I changed the Avatar not to be Leiva because I am not a diehard fan.

This is not to say I don't like Lucas. I love his attitude and I like his personality. And he was epic during his Wonderman phase. And he is looking a lot better now. I just think we need to find someone in that position with the same brain and a more impressive physical tool set. We're always going to need that steal.

I'm a logical guy, I'd probably let someone with proper football knowledge explain to me (with evidence) why he is better than I think or better than players I think are better than him.

I am relatively sure that Fernandinho is a DM and he was relatively vital for them last year. It allowed them to push Yaya up where he scored all those goals.

Yes, Fernandinho was forced to stay back to cover for Yaya's forays forward and it mostly worked (although at times Man City's central midfield still felt vulnerable). But he is not a true DM – I know that very well because I've followed his career since his Shakhtar Donetsk (R.I.P.) days. A true DM is someone like Nigel De Jong, Mark Van Bommel, Obi Mikel, Luis Gustavo, Man City's Fernando, Mascherano (for us and Argentina), Busquets, Javi Martinez, Jeremy Toulalan, Edgar Davids, David Albelda, Essien, Makelele etc etc. It's a type of a player who rarely scores or assists because all they do is sit in front of the back 4 and break up attacks.

Fernandinho's best position is as the more attacking of two CMs in 4-2-3-1 – the position Yaya occupied in Man City – someone who is responsible for playmaking and chipping in with goals at crucial times. This is how he played in Shakhtar and this is also how he plays for Brazil (Luis Gustavo is the DM). He was pushed back to accommodate Yaya and did mostly very well, but this is not the type of player he is.

BTW, who gave you the name? Is there a story?

I still think Modo is/ was pushed into trolling to some degree.

But why troll in the first place? It's an internet forum, if you're pissed just click the 'x' and go something else, then come back when you are calmer.

Anyway let's not derail this topic.

Lucas has been great past few weeks, let's see if he maintains his form. Obviously I would get someone better than him in next season though, but selling him in Jan would be suicide.

I agree but then I would say the same applies to others who just can't find it in themselves to let the guy say anything without pouncing on it and at times he was being goaded into replying / doing his shtick.

Oh yeah massively, then it became an us vs them thing cos he acted like he was 5

Completely, everything Modo said would be leapt upon by posters around here, they definitely started reacting to the poster, not the post, almost egging him on. However he was still the one persistently derailing threads, and being a WUM, so he has only himself to blame. I hope the ban isn't permanent, Modo is a valuable member of the site when he's not acting like a arse, and I hope he returns.
