Liverpool have been linked with FC Twente’s 21-year-old Dutch forward Luc Castaignos, and could make a £6m bid for his services with then the transfer window reopens in January, reports the Metro.
The Reds desperately need to strengthen their striking areas, with Daniel Sturridge limping out of training today with a suspected ankle ligament injury. The England man could be out for up to six weeks, and with summer signing Iago Aspas also injured, Luis Suarez is the only established and available striker at the club.
Castaignos has scored seven goals in 14 appearances in Holland so far, and looks like he’s finally starting to fulfil his talent that encouraged Inter Milan to sign him back in 2011.
His spell in Italy was fruitless, but at just 21-year-old, the striker is still young and improving.
As a striker, Castaignos can drop deep and link up with midfielders thanks to his impressive passing and technical ability. In this respect, he can be compared to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, although he doesn’t have the physical attributes of the Frenchman.
The forward could be available for around £6m, which could prove to be a bargain if he ends up having anywhere near the impact that last January’s signings Sturridge and Coutinho have had at Anfield.

Another 6/7 mill unproven squaddy type half arsed player, fuck that, we have those players in all positions, Ilori, Alberto, Aspas, Borini, how about singing a player or 2 to go straight in the first team, fucking waste of everyones time anything else at this moment.

I'd advice you to take these rumours with a pinch of salt.

Here's what Rodgers had to say in November:

"We need to bring in players for the team," said the Liverpool manager. "We've got a squad and we've got enough cover but in the future the focus is on bringing in players that can come straight in and improve our team. We did that last year and benefited from that. We know what we need to improve and we know the areas we need to improve but it's all about timing and all about affordability and can we do it? I always hope that in each window we can improve the team and if we can do that we can rightly be up there."

I can't see anything about him moving in Dutch media apart from a vague story in De Telegraaf about Barca scouts watching either him, Dusan Tadic or Renato.

Good player who moved to Inter far too early and then had a bit of injury trouble. Would be a risk but could be a good one. He should probably stay at Twente for a bit really to get more games.

Borini was suppose to be 1st teamer we spent £11m on him.
