Liverpool vs Palace Post Match.

“After the goal on 82 minutes, with 12 minutes to go, I saw many people leaving the stadium. I felt pretty alone at this moment. We decide when it is over. Between 82 and 94 [minutes] you can make eight goals if you like.

“Big decisions are made in moments when you are tired. Tonight it feels so bad because it was absolutely not necessary.”

Klopp said his frustration was not with the early leavers but his team’s inability to convince supporters that a point could be salvaged against an impressive Palace team. “I am not disappointed about this,” he clarified.

“They have reasons [for leaving] and maybe it is easier to go out, I don’t know. Don’t make a big thing about this but we are responsible that nobody can leave the stadium before the final whistle because anything can happen.

“We have to show this and we didn’t. Everything is OK but we can do better.”

Corners should be scrapped because it is almost pointless to try and score from one.

Your general point is a fair one. However, I would say it is almost pointless for US to try and score from one, but not for opponents such as Crystal Palace.

Being at the game I think you see more but conversely I also think you see less.
I thought that Moreno was the better of our two full backs today and although I am a fan of Clyne I thought he struggled going forward in the first half and struggled in defence for the last twenty minute.
Lucas was decent, Benteke started brightly but lost confidence, Coutinho was almost or sole creative spark and Mignolet simply isn't good enough.

Interesting Klopp commented on how many fans got up and left with about ten minutes left. Of course, they can do what the hell they like but I'm glad he mentioned it. The stadium just radiates tension and defeatism these days. Strip away the LFCTV hype and we've really got a Geordie-style problem at Anfield. It's almost taken for granted these days, which is why I must say I quite liked it when Klopp looked around with surprise at the people flocking out.

The only way to get back to the "old" days is to set a ticket price that almost everyone can afford and to get standing back. Can't see it happening. I have been to a few Bundesliga games and because the real fans can afford tickets and they have standing then they get great atmosphere.

Wrestle the player down and he won't score. It isn't more difficult than that and it is allowed according to the referees. Skrtel is shit defending corners but players like him get away with it because of the referees. Even I could defend a corner and I'm a 42 year old fat swede. I would be shit at anything else but I could defend a corner because of the shit referees. I would wrestle the player down and sit on him for 10 seconds. No pen against me.

It's true that referees let defenders get away with too much in the penalty area. The worst offender in history must have been Chelsea's Roberto Carvalho who routinely wrestled players to the ground without any punishment.

I think it's worth pointing out that Mignolet is currently 3rd in Morse's "Man of the Match" table.

It's impossible to single out any player to blame for today's defeat. They all played well. We just couldn't find the net.

I bit of practice taking corners in training would help. We don't have anybody at the moment who takes a good corner.
I thought Ibe was putting in good corners and crosses all match .. we just didn't get on the end of them or make enough of them when we did.

Klopp is right to have a go at the early leavers . Unlike the completely shite atmosphere , leaving early has been going on for years regardless of the position of the match in hand - Portly and I have been going to the game for over forty years - Portly longer and for more than half that time we have been season ticket holders I can honestly say neither of us have ever left the ground before the final whistle -

@gkmacca is right that this business of leaving early when your team is losing is a speciality of the Geordies - and Sunderland.

To me, if you do this you cannot call yourself a supporter. Supporters expect the team to bust a gut for the club, so the least the club can expect of the fans is that they make the effort of keeping their bums on their seats until the referee blows the final whistle.

As regards the game - one or two , but frankly not enough, have picked up here and in the match thread that we need look no further than our central midfield as the area to improve . Henderson will make a massive difference when fit, not that he's a world beater but is head and shoulders better than anyone else we can field there. Lucas and Can are so lumbering and immobile it's untrue - it's such a key position affecting how we defend and how we attack.
If anyone else posts stats about Lucas and his fucking tackling I will hunt you down and choke you with my bus pass.
We might be able to get away with Hendo and Can but we need a young Mascher sooner rather than later. Fortunately Klopp will be bright enough to see this.

Yeah Klopp is spot on there. Our fans are pathetic. I know a lot have to get off early to get back home and stuff, but still. It sends out the wrong message.

You reap what you sow.

Ticket prices have gone through the roof, tickets being given away to 'members' exclusively just to rip out a few quid more, match programmes for how much? - I mean who did they think they would attract this way?

Your working class local lad and his son won't afford to pay £ 100 per match for tickets, programme and a pie.

I mean, the bottom team of the PL receive more TV cash than Bayern Munich for instance. The total commercialisation of the PL lead to this situation we're in now. They turned football into a fucking soap opera with massive cunts being the protagonists on and off the pitch.

We made our own bed and have to deal with shite atmosphere and people with half-and-half scarves filming throw ins with their iPads. They demand wins and want them in the very match they paid a fortune to watch for. If they don't get it, they leave.

You see it everywhere now, even here. Instant success is being demanded - if one doesn't deliver then he needs being replaced. No time for projects or development - we have to get into the CL to keep up with the big boys. And how often was Klopp asked if we could win the league now? I mean, what the fuck?

For the first time in ages I won't be watching PL games in our annual UK trip around Xmas. I'm fed up with all this shit.

I usually buy a lot of merchandise but have stopped doing it because it support the greedy players and the very high ticket prices. The PL is all about money now. Almost no heart left. Shit referees that allow the players to get away with murder when they defend a corner and who got the bright idea that only one ball will be used during a game. Must be the most idiotic idea ever. Stops a lot of quick breaks and support the negative play.

The PL is dead.

Ming's " save " was the sort of thing you might expect in an under 11s game on a local park but not from a professional footballer. I've watched that 20 or so times and cannot figure the decision making as to why he didn't just catch it - mindblowing. Get Bogdan in smartish for me!

I thought we were unlucky not to get anything out of that game, the players understandably looked a bit jaded after 75 mins or so but a decent striker, Bogdan, and Hendo on the pitch and I'm sure we would have won.

I'm still gobsmacked about Ming's stupidity. As a defender he'd shatter your nerves with his bizarre passes. He's always been bad at it but this season, sheesh. It's as if, while the defenders have shaken off the old faffing about at the back routine, he's still confused about how much he should change, so he's still looking for these weird one-twos right in front of opponents. And as for that monumentally stupid pass to Sakho as soon as the poor sod hobbled back on to the pitch, well, doesn't Ming actually pay attention to what happens outside his area? Is he daydreaming?? And then there's his quick and early 'throwing': I've come to the conclusion he doesn't really fancy doing it at all but feels he needs to be seen attempting it, because there ARE good options quite often but he does that anguished look and then shakes his head and waits for a long kick instead. Rant over, but I've lost all faith in the twerp.

Ming had better watch out, because Bogdan looked very good in our recent Capital One Cup match.

More like a "normal" keeper! 😀

Mignolet actually seems to be fucking around with the ball more under Klopp than he was under Rodgers, for some bizarre reason.

Luckily there is no way on earth this guy will be our keeper at the start of next season. We might even buy a good one.

This gave me a great laugh and brightened up an otherwise shitty Monday morning. Thanks and regards Vlads.

It's such a relief to hear a manager talking about a defeat with thoughtful and specific observations, instead of the 'I can't fault the players' mantra. Maybe that will change, of course, but so far there's a refreshing honesty there - no blaming of the previous regime, no real complaints about the quality of the squad and no waffle.

Said in the Benatake thread, he is good striker but misses way too many easy chances to ever be considered top class.

That tap in, he had at the Emirates., cost us 3 points

I've seen Bogdan many times and I like him. I would pick him ahead of Ming. Bogdan is a very decent keeper who unfortunately makes one or two David James type of howlers per season but like James he's a big enough character to put these behind him and keep trying to dominate his box. He is a far more imposing and vocal keeper than Ming.

Ideally we sell Ming, keep Bogdan as an excellent back-up and Klopp spots us the next Neuer.

Lucas is a must starter in every game until we sign a new midfielder that is a great tackler. You can moan all you want about it but as it is now he is our only midfielder that is great at it. He is also our only midfielder that have some sort of football brain. Our other midfielders work their socks off but don't have the brain to make effective runs.

Lucas is like Hamann. If you remember Hamann then you will also remember that he had a much better defense behind him and a much better defensive playmaker than Can/Allen/Henderson/Milner as partner in midfield. Hamann was also very immobile but he had the brain to compensate that weakness just as Lucas.

You can also moan all you want about the stats but he is the player that make most tackles in the league, not only this season. We haven't replaced Masch and Xabi yet. Lucas isn't a Masch or Xabi but right now he is by far our best midfielder.
