Liverpool vs Palace Post Match.

I'm hoping Can is in the middle of some dodgy developmental period that'll see him transform into a top player, if that isn't the case he'll soon see his opportunities limited by others.

He's just one of many average players at the club!

Against Chelsea Klopp was rightly praised for going for the win in the second half.

Today I think he misjudged how much control we had against Palace, who are always dangerous on the break.

We should be prepared for these mistakes, though. Let's be honest, he's facing a brand new team every 3 days at the moment. That's not easy. He will be naïve at times and genius at others.

Coutinho doesn't seem to have any chemistry with anyone it seems, it is all solo stuff.
I thought Lallana was better today, as he was playing closer to their goal.
Can was very poor at the goal, first the lame touch, then turning his arse to the shot. Not good.
Moreno is still not good enough.

We were wasteful I hear, but how many real chances did we waste?
We had lots of the ball, but failed to create many clear openings.

Clyne was excellent. Ibe also very good, even if his age is showing from time to time with naive decisions.

We deserved more.

I thought we played quite well and should have have won, just got sucker punched.

Lucas, Countinho and Lallana were the pick of the bunch.

Can was rubbish, Ibe frustrating, we just tried to walk it in too often.

Yeah I'm not getting into all this negativity. Benteke looked below par, if he'd have been on form we'd have won.

Can was crap and the substitution was probably a bad idea but overall they played quite well once Palace scored.

They're a horrible side to play against. Really horrible. I would have been surprised, given our recent history against them, if we'd won, sadly. What I liked was that we played, for the first time in ages - maybe even years - as if Anfield really was our home. Nine players there or thereabouts in or around their penalty area - that's a Liverpool team. It would have been good to have had a win or draw before the break, but at least now Klopp has some time to think and coach, Sturridge can finally return, and maybe Henderson, too.

Reminded me of a game under rodgers today, huff and puff and fuck all end product and getting done by a couple of errors.
I thought far too many players had off days today, I'll put it down to the travelling for the wank cup.
Surely milner, henderson and man-of-glass have got to be back back by our next game?!

But we were way more urgent, positive and direct. We got into their area - something we failed to do earlier this season - and created chances - ditto - and, apart from a couple of times, and of course Mignolet's insanities, we kept going forward. That was much more encouraging.

Mignolet - and he's done this several matches in a row - acts like he's a double agent. He's astonishing. He keeps bowling out the ball in the middle of the pitch to defenders with opponents rushing towards them. He seems to pick out the player who's in the worst position to receive the ball, and passes to them. Today he saw Sakho clearly in trouble, just back on the pitch, hobbling with two opponents around him, and the mad fecker passed straight to him. Is he really that thick??? He's the daftest twat I've seen out there for years.

His distribution is a MASSIVE issue. I said we needed a top DM as top priority followed by a top keeper.

Nothing I've seen so far has shown me otherwise. Mignolet puts the defence under pressure constantly, can't keep play flowing from the attack, doesn't start attacks with long throws or kicks, is pretty much incapable of kicking the ball over the halfway line (which is some achievement for a league keeper). On top of all that he is inconsistent at shot stopping (which is his best facet) & despite trying to adapt into a sweeper keeper, as this system klopp prefers demands from its keeper, is less than convincing when trying to do it.

And we didn't capitulate when we went down one nil either!

Mignolet needs replacing. Bar a little purple patch last year, he's always had massive downsides to his game. Being a shot stopper just isn't enough.
It's one loss that on another day, had Benteke had any luck, could have been a draw at the very least. It's all going in the right direction and quicker than I hoped it would. No need to overreact.

Lallana is all flair but no end product...

Though he does have the makings of a quality player..

Just hope Sakho is okay and not out for to long. Scan tomorrow.
With our luck it will be 6 months....

Back down to Earth with a bump. Shame it had to be fucking Palace and fucking Pardew again. I despise him.

Ratings will be harsh, but accurate

Mignolet (5) not good enough, never has been. Criminally poor distribution and the crowd were rightly all over him.

Skrtel (6) was far busier than he should have been, but Palace were much quicker getting the ball forward so he was always on edge, especially when Bolasie approached him

Sakho (5) injury looked bad. Not sure why he wasn't immediately taken off. Average game, some silly errors, and not up to his recent standards

Clyne (7) palace were so dangerous out wide that Clyne had less opportunity to attack than usual, but he is so solid at fullback. Best we've had since Finnan

Moreno (5) he's a flawed defender and needs to cut out those sloppy positional errors, but he never gives up, so gets a pass. Average

Lucas (5) captain? Wow. Anyway, usual industry but is so obviously not physically able to perform at a high enough level consistently. Overran and could do nothing to influence the game

Can (3) he played like he was still half-pissed from a massive session last night; clumsy and sloppy and careless. Simply abysmal.

Coutinho (7) another goal from our only genuinely reliable attacking player

Lallana (6) Looks so busy and creative and sees so much of the ball. Does very little with it, though. He's one of those players that looks good, but isn't as effective as he should be.

Ibe (6) linked well with Clyne and was full of running and pace. Needs to work on the decision making and delivery

Benteke (4) a good player, and I like him, but he was simply too wasteful and his missed chances cost us at least a point.

More or less what I said. We need a new Reina. A sweeper keeper is a must or the Klopp system won't work. It is as simple as that. Of course Klopp want us to play a quicker game and press high up the pitch and all that. Without a sweeper keeper it is suicide to do it.

We really dont like to play against Palace. Although this was probably the best game against them in a while.
They attack us with pace and are big and strong. Lucas and Moreno in particular get found out against this lot.

In the end it just feels uneccessary though. More than enough chances and personal mistakes defensively. Should have at least gotten a draw.

I think it's worth pointing out that Mignolet is currently 3rd in Morse's "Man of the Match" table.

It's impossible to single out any player to blame for today's defeat. They all played well. We just couldn't find the net.

I bit of practice taking corners in training would help. We don't have anybody at the moment who takes a good corner.

Interesting Klopp commented on how many fans got up and left with about ten minutes left. Of course, they can do what the hell they like but I'm glad he mentioned it. The stadium just radiates tension and defeatism these days. Strip away the LFCTV hype and we've really got a Geordie-style problem at Anfield. It's almost taken for granted these days, which is why I must say I quite liked it when Klopp looked around with surprise at the people flocking out.

So how can you take a good corner when the opposition is allowed to pull the shirt, wrestle you down, hold both arms around you and all that sort of stuff? It isn't the players fault. Blame it on the refs that is the real problem. In open play it is a penalty almost every time but not at corners. Why?

One of the reasons to why very few strikers like Benteke exist in the PL is that the referees take away a lot of what Benteke and players like him are great at. Benteke would be a lot more effective if the referees allowed him to be it.

Corners should be scrapped because it is almost pointless to try and score from one. Wrestle the player down and it is danger over. It is a part of the tactic now. I don't think Klopp have understood how big difference it is between the Bundesliga and PL yet when it comes down to defending a corner, how much you are allowed to do.

There are always some people who leave early, irrespective of the scoreline. This always puzzles me - why bother turning up if you aren't going to watch the whole game?

I saw a few people leave early as usual, but I didn't see them streaming out.
