Wasting our chances again, this is exactly why we don't get in the top four, we're a weak team mentally. Benteke missed three or four sitters, I like the guy, but that's pathetic by his standards. It's always Yannick fucking Bolasie.

We had chances but couldn't put them away.

We still need someone to control midfield, an Alonso or a McAllister, the ones we got are a little fancy dan or a steady eddy.

It was plain to see why we need a top class defensive midfielder, a top class centre half and a new keeper in January.

It isn't the defense/midfield/attack that is the problem. It is the keeper. We need a new Reina. A keeper that allow us to play with a high defensive line and make the team more compact higher up the pitch.

Priority one signing.

Too many plodders and not enough cutting edge. It was encouraging in patches, particularly after they scored right up until half time, but it's the same game we've seen a million times before and I really don't know how to sort it. It's been happening for 20 years.

I don't know why that's an insult, Zaha and bolasie are very very good players

They're not. Not consistently anyway. We made them look like Ronaldo and Giggs on either wing tonight, though. Sick of it.

What chances btw ? Most of them were half ones tbh and we hardly tested the keeper.

We still don't have a clue how to attack. There's no pattern or plan. Benteke looked lost. There was nothing noteworthy that excited me about our play. Other than the obvious increase of effort and pressing, I don't see much change from Brendan's team.

Consistency isn't great from them, but they're more consistent than our lot

I really think you didn't watch the match at all did you ? Following the BBC perhaps ..... shot, missed, from centre of goal ?

22 shots but only 4 on target, Benteke missed 5 chances (3 very good ones) that probably 2 at least he would have buried on another day.

@BassTunedToRed: Emre Can made three (Opta defined) defensive errors today - only 5 other players in the PL have made that many in total this season.

Can't wait to get Henderson back BTW, Can plays and thinks far too slowly. Henderson, Milner and Sturridge, Ings ... we are missing some of our best players, even with just the squad we've got we will improve considerably. Even though we lost it was still far better than early season.

I think the problem of the final third is still there. We are doing the pressing and exerting that pressure - but once there we just cannot do the damage to put teams away. We need players up front who are brave and skill full and bully there way in, we need a Suarez like player. Also Klopp out - clearly it is not working with him. Let's sign another manager everyone.

I thought it was risky by klopp at 1-1 to take can off (who was aids), and not bring Allen on.

Yes it would be like for like but our midfield was ridiculously overran from that point. Firmino, Coutinho, Ibe and Lallana were all starting too far ahead of lucas, leaving lucas a lot to do

Bit of an overreaction happening here. Bolasi, Zaha and Puncheon are all powerful, pacy runners - and they provide a threat against us because our DM and left back are prone to being outmuscled. Mignolet's kicking has always been a problem so that's nothing new either.

We defended poorly for the goals, but I don't think our attacking play was too bad. Ibe was excellent. Coutinho probed and probed and got a goal and one great left foot effort, but he's always going to struggle to influence the game when he's wide left and has no runners in front of him. Benteke was ok - I don't think any of his chances were sitters, but he should have scored once at least. Trouble is he's not the perfect fit alongside Coutinho and Lallana. Lallana's lack of end product is really annoying, and he just doesn't have any chemistry with Coutinho.

We've known about the lack of balance in this squad since the start of the season, and it isn't automatically going to get resolved.

Hiccups like these are inevitable, but there should be enough in this squad to mount a top 4 challenge. Hope we keep at it.

Yeah, I think Klopp was guilty of being too gung-ho. Lucas had no help at all in the last 20 mins.

Our team is shit. We're gonna be shit all year. No way Klopp was going to work miracles in three weeks.

I don't think we'll turn this season around but I'm at least happy that we have the right guy at the helm going forward

1. The writing is on the wall for Allen. If he didnt play in that game, it means he will have no future at this football club. We cant really say we didnt see that one coming.

2. Can has a similar sort of laziness to his game that Agger had...but Agger had spades of passion and he was a quality footballer and defender. I can't say any of that is true for Can and he needs to pull his finger out pronto. We cant be having that lazy elegance shit with his kind of output.

3. This game highlighted why Lucas is not good enough to start for us, but as usual people will be ready to offer excuse on his behalf in a game where we offered up so many chhances. In my opinion he had a big role to play in the game becoming end to end stuff.....we were not likely to come out on top of a end to end game after a tough midweek game practically 2 days ago.

4. We may have missed Milner but he hasn't covered himself in glory lately either. Truth be told im unhappy with all our CM/DM options except for Henderson. Post Gerrard we had a real opportunity to find a good balance there and improve, but we are wasting it so far.

5. I think Palace is probably one of the toughest opponents in light of the midweek game against Rubin.....so no need to over react, but i have had the above four concerns even before Klopp came.

I'm hoping Can is in the middle of some dodgy developmental period that'll see him transform into a top player, if that isn't the case he'll soon see his opportunities limited by others.

I dont know, the game had changed long before the sub in my opinion....I think right from the start of the second half Palce had a lot of chances immediately after our attack broke down....Can was quite shite and taking him off didnt really have an impact....all thw other sub options we had didnt make sense as well.

If Rafa were here and was given the same hand of cards, he would have probably moved Coutinho centrally pushed Moreno up and brought on a defender to exploit how the game was flowing....it may have worked or at least helped preserve the draw.

But frankly we need better options...two injuries in the midfield shouldnt mean that we are staring down the barel like this.
