Hopefully Guthrie plays cos he's absolute pish. Anyone catch him kicking the ground and injuring himself in the build up to west brom's 3rd goal last week? Hilarious.

Oh fuck off Roy. Ming's been miles better since he moved to the centre.
[/quote]
He's talking out of his arse.
I'm pretty sure he knows putting Ming on the flanks was stupid, and he wont be doing that again in a hurry.
I'd go for the same team that played against Villa execpt Babel for N'Gog. Babel 'gets it' now and he's a better player. He'll benefit from being rewarded and will be able to start 3 games in succession for the first time.

I'm not sure he'd be a good partner for Torres though. Wash is a more willing runner and better at holding the ball up.

I agree with the more willing runner aspect but not so sure at the hold up play, he's still weak on the ball. I just think Babel is working a lot harder now, is better at running the channels, a better crosser of the ball and more skillful. Playing N'Gog with Torres is like playing 2 centre forwards, but its positive for both that there is an actual debate, which is encouraging.
I agree N'Gog probably works better with Torres than Babel would. Hope we'll see Babel coming on quite early on the 2nd half though as I can see his pace being a problem for tiring Sol Campbell.

Hss Babel ever had the opportunity to play with Torres?

I too think Babel would deserve to start. I'd put him on the right and rest Kuyt for this one.

What are you basing this on? Babel's one performance on Monday? Because he's been as horrendous as ever any other time he's turned out for us this season. Which let's face it, hasn't been that often.

He hasn't had much chances this season but has now put in two good performances on the row(Villa and Steaua). I at least would like to see if he can build on that.
We've been here before... he's just not very good I'm afraid. But I suppose there is a case for him based on his last two performances - and Kuyt's dip in form of late.
This happens quite frequently with Babel, though. One glimpse of quality and everybody gets their Babel blinkers on again. Then we all see him in the cold light of day and realize that's all it was - a glimpse of quality. The rest of the time he's painfully shit.

Yea I agree that's what will probably happen, I'm not actually getting my hopes up about his long term form. But for the reasons mentonied and because I feel this game would suit him I hope he plays a role, if not from the start then at least as a relatively early sub.

Yep, that would be fair, given Kuyt had such a poor game against Villa too. Babel's scored two in his last two starts, he deserves his place.

He's had two very good performances in succession, he's never played 3 successive games. We paid good money for him and he's earned some trust.

Earned some trust on 2 fucking half decent performances, not bad out of 3 years, and what is the reason he's never played 3 in succesion..... it's he's shit! I'm sorry the babel boat sailed along time ago for me. How many fucking false dawns can one man have.

It was Jovanovic who scored against Steaua.

Yeah you're right. I was pretty sure I was making that up half way through the post but decided to go with it anyway, I mean it is Ryan Babel, sometimes he makes stuff happen without actually making it happen.

The last match aside I think N'gog has been quite poor in the last few weeks, whereas Babel has uncharacteristically shown a bit of fight and desire. I also think we need to play Babel some matches if we're going to try and flog him in January.
But yeah, there's not much in it and I can't say I'm bothered either way.

Seems simple really, regardless of whatever else he does on the pitch (and he does occasionally come up with some good stuff) N'Gog has scored 8 goals and that is pretty good by EPL scoring standards this season (especially so considering he doesn't start every match) and Babel (I am a critic and want him sold) deserves to start ahead of Kuyt on the right (could never understand Babel at LW anyway, Rafa with his square pegs and all that).
In fairness to Rafa, Babel played at least as much on the left as he did up front during his time in Holland. But I'd agree he looks better suited to the right if he's going to play wide.

I guess the issue is that we've got Glen Jo at right back who needs protecting, and with Babel there infront it could go one of two ways, we could pen the opposition back, or we could get raped all over the place.
