Well sorry i didn't realize Mason didnt do time. i thought he had. Like i said previously, i was careless for posting without doing proper research. I read that top clubs were after him, so immediately assumed that they had done enough background checks to think he's worth the risk of being given a 2nd chance.
And yes, let me stress again. Abusers, esp. sexual predators, should be locked up until they've shown reasonably repentance for a considerable time, before they are released back into society, and even then, they have to be under monitoring/regular check-ins, counseling, etc for some time. But i've also heard of cases, where some sex offender comes clean for 10 years, and decides one day he can't do it anymore and becomes a menace to society again.
The ex-cons (excl sex offenders) that have done a full 180, are obviously those who have gone through the long, painful process of being crushed spirit, mind, and soul to the point of total surrender and utter despair. Those are the ones we usually help.
In my limited 'volunteering' experience, the drug addicts have a higher success rate of a complete life change, than say, a sex offender.
I usually don't go near sex offenders esp. pedos, because i dont think i'm cut out for that sort of work. It really can mess your mind up, if you're not properly trained for it. For me, those are your Hannibal or Arthur Fleck levels. Also, dont get me started about preachers who abuse minors.
And yes, abuse and trauma victims are a completely different kettle. I've seen too many trauma counselors who jsut make things worse, just cos they think they've got some uni degree, and can use some scientific approach they've studied and 'experiment' on their clients, and try to 'fix' them. And then there are others who do it mainly for the money, cos its easy money. Nothing pisses me more than that. I find that the 'wounded healers' turn out to be some of the best counselors.
Anyway, i'm really gonna stop now. Back to football. Sorry !
