FiveLive are now reporting we're in negotiations with Sunderland for Jones, and Babel has been announced in the squad for the Spurs match after apologising for his Tweeting.

I just hope that if he comes we try and include the style of service he needs in to the game plan for games he's playing. Or this will be a disaster.

Not really a no brainer, failed in madrid and has so far failed in milan. Sure he banged in the goals in holland but even dirk did that i could do that!!
Nows not really the time for us to be taking a punt on some unproven striker (thats why i have my doubts about jones too) whos been a disaster at 2 big european clubs in the space of the last 12 months! If its a striker on loan then we should really be looking at Van Nistelrooy because he just bloody well loves scoring goals!!

I share your sentiment of Huntelaar. Although I sympathise with his time as Madrid, if he wasn't required at two big clubs why will suddenly succeed here? But it is worth noting that he's still around the Dutch squad - I think - and has previously done well for them; he also scored 8 goals in 20 games for Madrid so he shouldn't be fully demerited.

Getting anyone here on loan who has a history of scoring goals can only be a good thing.

How did he fail with Madrid? His goal scoring record, considering he was played as often as Babel has been this year, was actually very good. His record for Milan has been poor but he's barely seen the pitch too.

It's sad how bad we need Riera (Steptoe) back. He brought the balance to our side last year we lacked so horribly the season prior.

Why doesn't carra just play the simple short pass to one of our DMs and let masher or lucarse start off attacks instead?

I think Jones might do quite well if we ever started a game with maxi on the right and riera on the left.

With those two speed demons on either flank the opposition would be wary of pushing the defence to far up the pitch, and if you add in our CMs ability to thread the clever pass through, or burst into the box late, well! Look out europ(a)

I agree with that- very few players score such an amount of beautiful goals as Torres. But still...one corker, one dinked over the keeper, something!
 
Lot of claim and counter claim going on currently. Echo said the deal was dead today, then later 5 live report on going negotiations. I see we've just been linked to that Stankovic too, which could be a ruse to try and push a deal for Jones through.

I hope we get him as he's a beast of a player on his day and would be ideal cover for Torres or as a partner. The only doubt is over his mentality and character. But thems the risks when you're spending in the mid range bracket.

Well he's not there now and was deemed not good enough and he's not up to much at Milan so on those grounds im saying he's a failure!!

Somewhere in Madrid and Milan there are Real and AC fans putting up the same arguments on taking Ryan Babel on loan!! Are there fuck!!

Kenwyne Jones isn't even Sunderland's best striker. He cost them 6mil and has just signed a bumper contract (I think). So, how much will he cost and how much will he want?
Can't get excited. Suppose Cheggers can't be boozers tho.
