Kenny to return?

I think it's far too soon for Kenny to return, it would risk undermining Rodgers - he needs a chance to grow his reputation first.

I'd like to see Kenny back and would be up for it now if we had taken on one of the bigger management names we were linked with over the summer.

I wonder even if Kenny feels he is ready to come back. No one bigger than the club etc. but his pride has to still be smarting a bit.

I don't believe for one second that Kenny feels this town ain't big enough for him and others. So I guess it is down to Rodgers then? He should not have to grow his reputation. He should come with a reputation. He is not a guy coming straight from nowhere and were lucky enough to get the job as he was the cheapest one. If he believes in what he is doing, he should know Kenny's position in this club independent on if he is formally connected to it or not.

I think it's a valid concern though. Kenny is still a club legend, his last stint as boss hasn't changed that.

The fact is that this is the biggest job Rodgers has had - he doesn't come with the reputation of say Louis Van Gaal or even Jurgen Klopp. Let's face it, if Kenny comes back there will be a section of the crowd that will roll out the Dalglish chant if we lose a match.

That could undermine Rodgers.

Can he cope with such a huge figure in the background? Should we risk undermining and derailing the "project" when it is still in it's infancy? Has the dust settled enough on the outsiders' perception of Dalglish's "failure" in his last stint for his return to have a positive impact and not just put us back in headlines?

Edit: And just more generally - what is the upside to Kenny coming back? Does it outweigh the potential downside?

People will chant Dalglish's name no matter what happens, and FSG would never make him manager again, so there's no threat there. Life President would make sense as a position.

People didn't chant Dalglish name for years before we hired him back. People sing it now when he's not even near the ground.

It reminds me of chelsea fans who sing Di matteos name, except for them they despise benitez.

We don't hate rodgers.
