The annoying thing is, he could have had a decent career at Anfield if he wasn't such a self-important twat. We'd do well to get 4m for him now the world and his wife know that we have to get rid..

Riera slams Reds board
Spanish winger doesn't want to stay where he is not wanted

By Ben Collins Last updated: 20th May 2010

Albert Riera has slammed the Liverpool board for not fighting his corner in his row with Rafa Benitez.

The Reds boss signed Riera from Espanyol for £8million in 2008 but he has failed to establish himself at Anfield and has not played since a verbal attack on Benitez in March.

The 28-year-old Spanish winger admits his Liverpool career is over yet he believes the Reds board have done nothing to assist his exit, claiming Benitez has too much power at the club.

"I want to leave," Riera said in the Daily Mirror. "English clubs are run differently to Spanish clubs.

No fight

"In England you have a manager at the club and the board of the club has done nothing for me. The club has not fought for me.

"I do not want to quarrel, but if a club doesn't fight for you, that means they don't want you. I do not want to be in a place where I am not wanted."

Riera made 28 league appearances in his first season at Liverpool but just 12 this term having fallen out of favour.

And his lack of first-team opportunities this year have cost him a place in Spain's World Cup squad.

I think he had a very 'promising' first season.

I don't know where it derailed, but he proved more than useful on the Left and gave us some great balance.

Nah hes always been slow as fuck and never scored enough goals. He should never have been considered as a signing for a club like Liverpool.

You mean the club who signed Piechnik, Diao, Stewart, Koztma, Biscan, Lucas, Speedie, Dicks.....what a crock.
Riera was very good in most of his first season.

He was a £7m winger. Good at times. Average at others. Slow.

Arsed.
Well yeah, I'm not saying he was amazing, but if the situation was handled better HE would have been on the bench against Atletico and not el shite.
Now were losing our better winger and keeping our worse one. Boss

That one moment against Arsenal a year ago where we could have gone 3-1 up had he just squared the ball to Nando immediately will be my abiding memory of Riera. Slow, ponderous and shit decision-making.

.. Had we won that game, who knows, we could have won the league.

Adios Albert.
Hahaha that's fucking harsh dude.
'Yeah he was alright.......cost us the fucking league mind'

He actually seemed quite intent to succeed at first. In fact, i thought he was a good proffesional..

Rafa seems to have the way of getting the worst out in people. His people management is fucking woeful. tonnes of the players he has signed hate him.

Club full of idiot ?

Manager, yup idiot.
Owners, yup two idiots
Players, a definate handful of idiots there.
Fans, SOS = idiot.

🙁

On the positive side, he's the first wanker that Rafa signed. I am defining wanker as a self serving git, that speaks negatively of the club in the media on a regular basis.

So does his manager

Albert on his day was useful enough and a contributor. However, his bleeding inconsistency killed any chance he had of being a regular starter.
