Pacey, strong running, confident on the ball and hard working. That run into the box to the byline and attempted cut back which won us a corner was Gerrard-esc. I like him.

I liked his pace and his strength.

Reminded me a bit of Kuyt - with pace.

Probably won't score too many goals but looks a tidy player early on.

Yes, a decent start. Having pace is very important, especially when playing on the wing, and he used it to good effect.

There were times his touch was a bit agricultural, but he worked hard and that's a good start.

We've been let down so many times by our left sided attack, and I hope he can carry on improving.

That time he outmuscled like 3 Arsenal players in the early stages reminded me of a young Heskey.

His strength on the ball suggests he'll be a capable deputy for Torres if we need him to play the one up front at any stage. The difficulty then will be who stands in for him wide on the left.

I wouldnt go overboard myself. He showed flashes at times but still a lot to prove yet..

When he powered through the middle flinging screeching Arsenal players to and fro I decided I loved him. He has something of the Vladimir Putin about him.

Think it was Sagna who kept biting at him before he completely shrugged him off to the floor during that power run through the centre. Loved it.

Did OK, I thought the substitution was too early, he should have stayed on a bit longer.

Should have at least hit the target though, chances like that don't come so easy.

I'm not totally sold on him, I must admit. I thought the same when I saw him in the World Cup: he's quick, strong and willing, but lacks subtlety, technique and composure. The anti-Riera, if you will. He strikes me as more of a squad player than a first-choice LW though.

He's an intelligent player. I liked what I saw when he scored the winner against Germany in the WC2010.

He will improve as he settles. Definately going to be better than Voronin.

I thought he was excellent, considering it was his debut against a competitive top 4 side. Strong, reasonably quick, looked comfortable in possession, held a good wide position for the most unlike Dirk who kept coming inside. Granted he should have hit the target with his shot, but he showed more than enough to show he can be a success for us.

It's not just opponents who need to keep a close watch on impressive new Liverpool signing Milan Jovanovic.

When the team signed autographs for fans at John Lennon Airport after returning from a pre-season trip to Germany, the Serbian international was in big demand. Alas, nobody did a headcount as the rest of the Anfield stars piled on the team coach and Jovanovic was still signing happily as it pulled away.

After frantically running behind the fast-disapearing coach for a few moments, supporters then put the bemused player in a taxi to Melwood, where he arrived panting and penniless, much to the enjoyment of his new team-mates.

Haha!

Decent start but I get the impression that he is the sort of player opposing teams won't be too worried about he will lack the guile or creativity to open teams up. Good option from the bench but as some people have commented he is kinda like Dirk II which some people are sure to love but personally I feel we need less of these style of players in our first team

That's a great story. Good man Jova.
I think he played well yesterday. Like Nessy said he was playing against top opposition and it was his debut. When it gets down to games like Wigan and Bolton away he looks like he'll be right up for it.

I haven't formed an opinion on him yet, but he works hard, is insanely strong and good at keeping the ball, and is pretty quick off the mark. He also seems to have a very admirable attitude, unlike Riera and Babel.

I think he'll prove a good squad member. Anything more than that would be a pleasant and welcome surprise.

he'll do well I feel! Anyone know why suarez hasn't Been snapped up - would we be interested?

He had a couple of poor games but was one of the high scorers in the tournament, wasn't he?

There haven't been many clubs spending big money and Ajax will probably ask for 20M at least.

He had a good world cup overall I thought... Dutch footballer of the year 2010 and 33 goals in 35 games. Surely 15 to 20 is fair market value - only 23 as well. Sell on value high and a Latino doing well in the dutch league could be a good punt?
