I think almost anyone would be a better option right now than Lego Head on the right. I'm not sure that's a reason to look towards Cole.
I don't really see any benefit in trying to persist with a 30 something, injury prone player on 100k a week that will undoubtedly struggle to find a place in this team.
I'd get rid as soon as possible and hope we don't have to take too much of a hit in the process.

get rid, he is talented but his huge wages but be better utilised elsewhere.
I'd rather move him on use his wages for someone who will play more than not (which wouldn't be the case with cole) and use raheem as the 'option'.
Yeah, we can't afford to pay 100k a week for an option. For a 100k a week we need someone who can produce in 90% of games.

Ah, thanks. We need to strengthen the squad and I fear many young players will have been scared off by the vilification of Henderson this season - they could be forgiven for thinking they don't fancy playing in front of fans who do that. If we can't buy big I'd rather we go for some short-term deals with mature players, who can do a job until the home-grown youth players are ready to break through.

If I were Raheem Sterling, I'd be rubbing my hands with glee, with given Henderson ample opportunity this season, it'd not be farfetched for AN.other big side to buy him and ease him in despite his starring role for Sunderland.
Not to mention Flanno and Kelly also coming in when needed.

I disagree. Fans have never turned on Shelvey, Kelly, Robinson, Flannigan, etc.
Sterling was warmly received when he came on the other day. So long as he keeps trying to make things happen then he'll have most peoples backing and support.

I think fans are more forgiving for youth team players than they are for players we've spent money on. Especially when it's 15m or whatever it was.
That is still 60k per week apparently.
I think we will have to give him away to get his wages off our books and I don't think it will be all that easy to do.
