There's no chance of that on here. If we win our first 5 games, then there will be an about turn and proclamations of "we're going to win the league" from the hystericals. Woy will be Shankly reincarnated and then burnt at the stake as we wlose our first game.
Ok, look this Woy thing is fucking stupid, but Wlose WTF is that all about!?!

😛

But nobody has said we'll lose Gerrard and Torres, 'for certain'. Just that they're unhappy.

My post is 100% accurate, and doesn't contain any 'opinion' at all, however in the gleeful rush to hound Benitez out (and replaced with any fucking cunt at all), mock SOS at every turn, and pretend that Woy actually is LFC manager because he was the 'best candidate' is making some people rather myopic

'Let's see what happens when the season starts'

Let's not wait, things are fucked *now*

Rage? Is that you?

They're unhappy because they came 7th and don't know if things will get any better. We came 7th because they failed to perform to scratch and because the manager chose to spend his 40m quid on a right back and a sick note.

what we DO know as facts

* the owners have lied in the past
* last season all the money from sales wasn't reinvested back into the team
* given the list of candidate of managers linked to liverpool, the board didn't go with the best man or the job - actually scratch that, that's an opinion.
So you're in the "wait and see" camp and the "hysterical conspiracy theory" and the "doom and gloom" and the "woe is me I'm an LFC fan" camps?

That's a lot of campness...

What are you going on about? The first two points are facts, not opinion

I'm not going to bother. More intelligent people have tried and failed with you.

And yes, Benitez could have *no* complaints about getting the boot after the sheer dismal *chaos* of last season.

For buying Aquilani
For thinking Lucas and Insua were in any way good enough to play for Liverpool
For playing the wrong formation for the players he had
For the interminable machiavellian maneouvres with the media
But he clearly loved everything about Liverpool and that's more than can be said for the cunt who sacked him, and decided a mediocrity like Woy was the best choice

I don't even think you know what you are going on about any more. I said some people have genuine fears the board are going to fuck us over, I never said they (the board) WOULD, I just posted two facts that in the past they haven't had the best interests of the club at heart. THE END. you then said you're not going to bother, bother with what? what are you going on about? are you going to argue they HAVE been honest and forthcoming since arriving?

Hell Yeah!!!!!

Fight! Fight! Fight!

I'm not going to bother reading this thread again.

Quite a lot of "facts" being thrown around, but somewhere along the line people forgot that a cohesive argument needs to be built around these premises, even if we do take them as 100% facts and not opinionated bollocks.

The amount of Olympian logical leaps in this thread is astounding!!!!

......so any news on Joe Cole?....Fuck it, that needs a new thread.

You've decided Broughton is (probably) a liar because Gillett is one. how are the two things even linked?
I haven't decided anything, I'm waiting to see what happens, I only pointed out why people may have concerns. The chairman and CEO have much to prove because the men in charge have done anything but.

Even if we get new owners in the near future they wont care about the club either, they will care about their investment. They will hire people to run the investment well (hopefully) so the whole argument of people who caring for the club is void. Any rogue Sheik who buys us will do a Robbie Keane and say how he has supported us since the second he left his mothers womb.

P.S. Brendan please give the Aquilani moaning a rest.

Hmmm a manager that loves LFC but makes multiple errors of judgement or someone without the deep feeling but who makes the right calls ? I don't know if Woy or Broughton or Cecil are those guys but lets see what transpires over the next month or so before we make that call.

HODGSON HAPPY WITH JOE COLE LINK

Roy Hodgson is happy to see Liverpool linked with Joe Cole, but insists he has not held talks over a deal for the midfielder.

Cole is looking for a new club after being released by Chelsea and he has attracted interest from London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

However, bookmakers have suspended betting on which club Cole will join next season amid rumours the England international is bound for Anfield.

Reds boss Hodgson has not spoken to the 28-year-old recently and refused to expand on rumours he could become a Liverpool player.

"I'm not a betting man so that doesn't actually play a big part that betting is suspended," Hodgson told Sky Sports News.

"I don't even know enough about betting to know what that means.

"As far as I know, Joe Cole is still a player looking for a club.

"I know we've been connected with him, and it's good to know we're connected with players of that quality, but I don't have anything to report on the subject.

"I haven't had any discussions with him, but I had a brief chat a while back.

"If you want to know about transfer targets, and how things are progressing, you'll have to ask (managing director) Christian Purslow because he's the man looking after those discussions, not me."

Hodgson also revealed he met with Liverpool co-owner George Gillett prior to the club's opening pre-season friendly against Al-Hilal in Austria being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

He added: "It was nice to meet him, of course. I don't know him very well, but it was nice to speak to him.

"It was good of him to come to the game. It's a pity that, I'm sure, like the rest of us he would have liked to have seen Liverpool play."

A Manager who doesn't pick his targets?

A man who knows nothing about football who does??

WTF???

But Woy is no 'yes man' or stooge. Nope. Not at all.

And Cecil isn't deiciding who comes or goes, that would be *ridiculous*

It's almost like Woy reads 6cm every day, and then releases statements specifically designed to make some people look stupid.

A yes man who's intent on letting the press know the real deal? Isn't that a bit of a contradiction? He seems to be making it clear there's an issue, so that doesn't sound like much of a 'yes' man to me.

So either he's pissed off already, and bleating to the press after 2 weeks in the job, OR he's been briefed on exactly what his job is, and has been told to let everyone know that Cecil is in charge

Both options are equally chilling, and I'm of the opinion it's the latter

Woy's a fucking nodding dog

I can't see what benefit it would have to the club though to 'allow' Roy to let everyone know that that's how things are being done. How many transfer targets would want to play for a club where the manager isn't picking the targets? I know it happens at Real and other clubs, but they're in a better position to do it, we're skint, as everyone knows.

I think Julian touched on a good point.
Some of the "facts" bandied around here are no more facts than a deep seated opinion, which is a very dangerous premise to base an argument on. Just because somebody says it is a fact does not necessarily mean it actually is.
Jo Goebbels would be proud of some of the posturing and persuasion on here.
I think one or two people around here need to stand back a bit and stop digging.
Our current situation is not ideal, there is a lot of uncertainty around, and people are being unfairly dragged into matters, and each and every syllable uttered are being dissected just so people can gain the lofty high ground and try to demonstrate they were right all along , which is not an endearing feature.

As I said earlier, just bear in mind Hodgson was only put in place 18 days ago, even the the world cup was in full flow and things have been on hold in a lot of areas.
As the more logical posters have been saying, a ball has not been kicked in anger, and other than Yossi's pre-arranged departure, the only other thing that has happened , which most people feel is a good thing is that Insua has gone for good money. It also seems to me the danger of losing Gerrard and Torres is not at the same level it was some weeks ago.
Brendan, you keep doubting Purslow and Broughton's veracity, what is the basis for this, is this just based on a gut feeling you have and the fact that Broughton has an affinity to Chelsea, and that SoS have had it in for Purslow since he blew them out of the water (legitimately) after they dropped him in the shit with the owners , other than that can you give us real, solid, tangible specifics?

regards

Maybe this direct quote from Roy has something to do with it Vlad?

"If you want to know about transfer targets, and how things are progressing, you'll have to ask (managing director) Christian Purslow because he's the man looking after those discussions, not me."

That doesn't say he hasn't been involved in picking which players to go for. It just says he's not involved in the negotiations to sign them - which, as others have said, is standard practice at most other big clubs.
