Would you call David Silva a winger? He looks like he'll be one of those who will play across the '3'.

It'd be nice to see him get a bit of Carling Cup action and next season I imagine we'll see him feature pretty early on in preseason, however it'd be wrong to thrust him into the first team. Particularly when the first team are struggling as they are.

I've watched some pretty average players look fantastic in the Youth Cup and then disappear into obscurity when it comes to taking a step up. Suso has already shown he can do it in the reserves and he's obviously has great natural talent, unlike the aforementioned average players, but first team is too much too soon for me.

This.

Suso looks like a No.10 to me. The lad is class and the sooner he gets a run out the better.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him subbed on at some point this season.

i think the coaches who work with him every day will know when he's ready more than fans on a forum

Only way he will become amazing is if he plays in our 1st team. Look at arsenal and cesc, he played aged 16 and now is 1 of the best CM in the epl if not the world. We need to take a risk

Suso for the first team ? haha

He's an immense talent but let's not get too carried away. He'll be gobbled up alive against more formidable shithouse opponents. Premier league games are played at a much frenetic pace and he won't be given as much as time as he'd like on the ball.

He's not ready for the first team yet, but we should be looking at easing him into the squad now.
Haven't seen a player outplay opposition players with such ease and so frequently as Suso.
He's an immense talent and the sooner he gets introduced to first team football the better.

I'm not saying that he should start games but he can at least be on the bench.
I've heard that so many times before.

Richie Partridge
Flo-Po
Tony Le T
Adam Hamill
Pacheco (biggest disappointment - as I really thought he'd make the step-up and become a world-class star. I really did)
Nemeth

After all the false dawns we've had, I think it's wise to tread cautiously from now onwards.
He's twice as good as those players and he's only 17 years old.

Edit. Love that video. I remember seeing Jack Wilshire at youth lever and thinking wow. Suso has the same impact it seems.

Anyone who thinks he's ready now for the first team is fucking mental.

He's not. Compare him to Arsenal's Fabregas all you want, the simple matter is you can bring players through a helluva lot easier when they're surrounded by quality & in a side more used to winning.

He'd struggle in our side, & it'd do him more harm than good IMO.

Maybe when we're winning for the last ten minutes, then try to build on that, but definitely not from the start or when behind.

I never meant that I wanted him start. But at least give him some time on the pitch.
Like you said when we're winning.

Yeah, he may benefit from cameos, but he's still not truly first team yet, & I'm worried a good cameo would mean pressure on him to start & I can't see that being good for him at this age.

Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am & he's good enough, buy raw talent isn't enough at his age in a side that's struggling.

totally agree, foxy.
he is definately the best young talent I've seen since gerrard but we definately have to be careful with him, the step from the reserves to the first team is a huge one.

he seems a little bit better than le tallec
He seems to have the vision of LeTallec but his natural ability is way more impressive. Great trickery and change of pace.
Have no idea how he'd do in the first team but I'd love to see him come off the bench a few times this season.

We've had more slow fucking wide players than any team in history.

Oh, you get the odd bellend quacking on about pace being overrated, but the thing about that statement is, is that it's *wrong*.

Slow, wide players. On both flanks. And yet that's what we keep buying:

Cole, Zenden, Tennants, Riera, Maxi, Kuyt, Aurelio, Nunez.

The team needs far more pace injected into it, in all positions, especially in attack and midfield.

Pires & Ljungberg.

I thought Ljungberg at his peak was very quick...

Agree regarding giving the lad some time on the field when the team is in a winning position and back to playing well however a desperate Souness was bailed out by a certain local 18 year old when his team was struggling for form and available players.

The super talents that are Suso, Sterling, Pacheco and Jonjo are not ready for first team football. Cameo roles and appearances will improve them and give them the confidence to make the step up.

I'm pretty damn excited about our future with King Kenny at the helm. And no, I don't think I'm jumping the gun.

Yep i remember reading somewhere that he was the quickest over the first 10 yards in the premiership some 7,8 years back. I'm not sure how reliable it was.

Freddie mayve been a lot of things but he was certainly not slow.

Pires was hardly a slouch either - factor in that he was an immensely talented footballer and all of a sudden he doesn't need to be able to do 100m in under 10 seconds

Ljungberg was quick and pires was clever. As i mentioned earlier, pace helps average players a lot and thats why we need it. Because we only buy average wingers recently
