Jackson Martinez has been linked with a move to England (Picture: Reuters)
Porto striker Jackson Martinez is said to be on the verge of completing a transfer to Chelsea.
The 27-year-old’s agent reportedly travelled to London today to thrash out the terms of a deal which will cost the Blues around £33million.
Martinez has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham but it appears Chelsea lead the race for the Colombia international’s signature.
The player signed for Porto from Chiapas in the Mexican top flight in July 2012 and has gone on to score 34 goals in 40 appearances for the Portuguese giants.
He also has eight goals in 25 matches for his country.
Martinez’s contract in Portugal expires in 2016 but former Benfica striker Roland Linz has urged the Blues to go for Monaco hitman Radamel Falcao instead.
He said: ‘Jackson is good but he can’t compare to that [Falcao]. Who can? Falcao is in the top five in the world, if not the best.’

Jorge Mendes is surely behind this move.

Chelsea do badly need a striker, last weekend somebody mentioned of their 21 goals, three have been scored by strikers.

The longer Mourinho ignores Lukaku the better

Would Rogers go for Lakaku?

Thats because mourinho never bothers with youth development. He's either shit at it or just can't be arsed.

The strange thing is, he's absolutely perfect for the Maureen likes to play. He's a superb lone frontman in the making.

We were linked a fair bit with him before he went to Porto and before we had Sturridge, 6 million quid i remember reading, he was playing for some Mexican club i think.

Those Portuguese clubs are so canny at picking up South American talent and making big money on them.

We should just hire the porto scouts

Yeah or just do a Spurs whenever those big Portuguese clubs are linked with those young South Americans, not entirely sure but think work permits are the problem for English clubs hoovering those young South Americans up compared to those Portuguese ones, otherwise i don't get why we don't focus most of our scouting on South America because that place is a goldmine for talent.
