25 league goals in 21 app. 5 against Wycombe yesterday, 4 against Sheff Wed in Dec and a couple of hattricks earlier in the season.

21 yrs of age. Surely Scotland are interested in capping him - before he gets capped by England?

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark feels Jordan Rhodes is as good a finisher as any of the legends he played with after the in-demand striker bagged five goals in the Terriers' six-goal trouncing of Wycombe.

Rhodes took his season's tally to an amazing 27 as he scored his fourth hat-trick of the campaign against an abject Wycombe side that slid to their heaviest-ever home defeat in the Football League.

Clark said: "In terms of his finishing, I bracket him with Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, though obviously he hasn't achieved what they did at their level yet. Certainly when you put the ball in the box he's as good as anything. Kevin Phillips, who was a magical finisher, is another example.

"But the thing that pleases me most about Jordan is that his general play is sensational at the moment. He's not just scoring but bringing other people into play, holding the ball up and he's creating chances for other players and his movement is fantastic.

"It was a sensational performance from us - I'm not being disrespectful to Wycombe but it could have been double figures or seven or eight at half-time. We've played well in our previous games but we made individual errors that cost us, but we've now scored 12 goals in our last three away games."

A number of Premier League clubs are thought to have sent scouts to watch Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes in Friday's match at Wycombe Wanderers.

The in-form striker scored five goals as Lee Clark's side ran out 6-0 winners.

Spurs coaches Joe Jordan and Clive Allen were amongst the top flight representatives seen in the crowd at Adams Park.

Rhodes has now found the net 25 times this season for the League One side.

Redknapp claims Spurs will not be making a move for the 21-year-old despite the forward's impressive form in League One.

Asked whether he would be making a move for Rhodes, Redknapp said: "No, he's a great player but not for Tottenham.

"We haven't made any offers. It's difficult, we've already got a good squad and there's no need to bring anyone in unless they can go straight in and improve the team."

(there are no penalties amongst his tally (Ronaldo has 9/30, Messi 3/31, van Persie 1/25 and Perbet 2/17)

Of the 44 points Huddersfield have gained, 16 of them would not have been achieved without goals that Jordan has scored (36% of their total)

Cant we just buy this lad?

Surely if we can invest 35m in Carroll we can spend a relatively paltry 7/8m on a player banging goals in for fun.

He's got to be worth a punt. If he flopped someone like Leicester/Villa/Sunderland/Wigan would still pay 5m+ for him.

Arsenal seems to be the one of the only bigger clubs to sign 1st team players from lower leagues - mainly youngsters though.

I particularly like the fact that he scores "different types" of goals i.e. inside the box, oustide, headers, tap-ins (right place-right time) and his movement is good making him difficult to mark.

I've seen so many lower league players over the years and knew they'd make the grade at Championship level; Liam Lawrence @ Mansfield, Dean Whitehead @ Oxford, Mike Williamson (who kept Rooney quiet on Wednesday) @ Wycombe, Keith Andrews @ MK Dons etc, etc but it's impossible to say for sure they can progress enough to be good enough for a team with top 4 ambitions in the EPL. I think Rhodes could do it but as i said before I would put a limit of £6m-£7m on the fee.

A better bet could be Nicky Maynard of Bristol City who IMO could be a top goalscorer and only has 6 months left on his contract. A shrewd investor could snap up Hoillett and Maynard for about £7m-£10m and that could prove money very well spent.

Leicester offered £7m for Maynard last summer and Bristol City (stupidly) refused it. We could snap him up now for £2m and if it doesn't work out we could sell him for £4m-£5m next summer!

Cheers mate. I betya Moyes is thinking along these lines (not Hoillet but Maynard). A cheeky bet on Maynard to Everton?

I think he'd do very well at Everton. They've been without a regular goalscoring-forward for a long time and I reckon he would prove an absolute bargain for £2-£3m. For the record he's very similar in style to Defoe.
