I am not sure what that is meant to mean, but I don't think I like that either.

fucks sake vlad chill out. okay, gerrard was moved to an advanced position before torres arrived, he then bought torres and played him as an out and out striker (a brilliant move as he played deeper for AM and spain). so no, I don't think rafa stumbled on the torres/gerrard I will conceed however rafa didn't have the faintest clue what to do with keane because to be a success it would have to break up that gerrard/torres combo.

lastly, kuyt has been utter gash

I am not sure that that sequence was actually correct.
I think he tried playing Torres in various combinations of two up front, but it did not work out, and then Gerrard took up the advanced role, Torres liked it and then stated his preference for being a lone striker.

wasn't gerrard playing in the advanced role supporting crouch? that being the case logic says torres would be pushed further forwards rather than his usual AM/spain role.
to be fair though I do remember a few games where kuyt and torres played as a front two.

Kuyt was very effective last season from the right sided berth because he formed an excellent partnership with Arbeloa on that flank.
Tinto - Kuyt was very poor for a good 2-4 months last season too.
His goals did dry up, sure enough for a period and we were looking elsewhere for someone to take up the slack, but Kuyt and Arbeloa still formed a good partnership on that flank for the vast majority of last season. It was so important to how we attacked that Hiddink identified their partnership as needing special attention in our CL tie with Chelsea.
