Was Anelka that great when we had him? Or was it just Diouf hatred that re-wrote it?

Just looked it up, he got 4 in 20. Doesn't really seem like the miss of the century not signing him. I'm all for the Diouf/cunt bandwagon though obvs.
There was report on us being interested in Pepe on a free. I would be totally for that move. Karius can learn a lot from him, and he will be a steady hand who we can bank on when needed. We wouldn't go too wrong with this decision.
That would leave our budget in tact for more pressing needs.
Hopefully we stick to what has worked for us in the last two season quality over quantity. Focus efforts on bringing two signings (on top of Keita and hopefully Pepe) who have a high chance of working well for us.
This means we won't be changing too much. Our focussed efforts with good financial backing will allow us to continue in this path.
We are not City or Chelsea to address our squad depth issue in one season. No outgoing (except may be Ming, Moreno and one of Klavan or Lovren) and four top quality additions including Keita will absolutely do for us.
Doesn't tell the whole story. He was a perfect foil to Owen and Heskey at the time.
What did Heskey need a foil for? His Xmas turkey?
That was a big mistake ... i really liked him when he played and his overall awareness was excellent plus he really wanted to stay at Liverpool. GH was a cock not to sign him up.He was ace. Wiling, unselfish, quality. Absolute shambles that we fucked him off.
You take that back young man. He was fucking boss that year before Houllier started touching him in the bogs.
I know it was only one season, and the rest of the seasons probably take the gloss off, but it was a very good season. He was a monster, and actually scored quite a few.
If we got Pepe back how would he not be challenging for the position?
Another fine prospect, by the way - Yan Dhanda. He hit one of the fiercest penalties I've seen last night -
followed by this delightful goal:
