I hope my new avatar doesn't bring back too many bad memories for our Irish posters.
Has it something to do with the Welsh national team of it's number one sport beating the Irish national's forth most popular sport's team?

No.

You might not of had the privilege to be born a welshman mate, but please don't let that stop you from admiring such iconic men.

Is football 3rd and ahead of Rugby?
I haven't got figures to hand but I would say football followed by Gaelic football and Hurling are the three most popular participatory team sports in Ireland.

I'd say GAA is ahead of soccer(sorry football), but I don't know. Hurling next, then Rugby.

I always thought it was the two gaelic sports then Rugby and football 4th

Your Rugby teams are much better and more popular than the football clubs if Im not wrong
They have a bigger/better profile because there are less rugby teams and the best Irish rugby players stay and play in Ireland. The best football players go abroad, practically all to England or Scotland, meaning that the standard of the national league isn't that high

I don't much about the other sports in Ireland, so do the other irish club sides bring in bigger crowds mate?
I dunno what sort of crowds inter club rugby generates though I suspect that attendances have been watered down by the prominence of the provincial sides in the Heineken Cup and the Rabo direct league.
Gaelic football generates huge attendances mostly at inter county level but there would also be a decent number of club match day fans.

Just for example, Croke Park(Gaelic football and hurling) holds about 80,000, Lansdowne Road(football and rugby) holds 48,000

Yeah kind of prove my rankings...
It depends if you are talking about attendances or participation?
Football would probably be behind rugby in attendances but there are multiples of people playing football to rugby at all levels

You claimed rugby was the 4th most popular sport...Id say popularity is the combination of both but attendances in domestic competitions is the most relevant.
In Switzerland, we have more people playing football but Id say that except in Basel, Ice hockey is more popular

Rugby is Ireland's seventh sport by participation levels.

8th if you include dancing as a sport.

Ok I still say that football is more popular that the other three.
You are not factoring in the huge interest that the premiership generates in Ireland witnessed literally by the thousands that travel over for matches every weekend.
That interest is partly because all of the best Irish football players ply their trade in the Premier league.
If you don't believe me then ask all the other Irish lads.
Football is definitely way more popular that rugby

Fair play to Le Chac for finding an obscure formula to prove that he was right all along and rugby is more popular thatn football.
Clearly knows a lot more about it than us Irish lads😉
