Its obvious the 4-2-3-1 doesnt work with Lucas. He plays deeper than Alonso. Result: the team is completely unbalanced, Gerrard has to drift back and leaves Torres alone up front.

Lucas doesn't play deeper than Alonso, quite the contrary in fact. The problem is his use of the ball which, though not that bad, still isn't nearly as good as Alonso's.

Until we replace Alonso properly, Gerrard should drop back into his place and Yossi should move into Gerrard's. If Gerrard gets @rsey about it, Rafa should lay the law down to him.

Babel and Lucas by a long way (for obvious reasons already stated by others), but now and again Carra and Kuyt piss me off. Carra because of his hoof balls and for silly shit like his clash with Skrtel (Skrtel's eyes were never off the ball, the same cannot be said of Jamie), and Kuyt because for a start I like traditional wingers and because at times he leaves us so exposed when cutting in or tracking the ball, not to mention how many times he has already nerfed Johnson by not being there to 1-2 and overlap.
 
Not sure if there's any of our players I dislike.. there are certain thngs about certain players I dislike.

Carra's constant hoofing when under no pressure.
Mascherano's lack of general skill.
Lucas' passenger complex.
Yossi's extra touch.
Torres' head down after the first rough tackle.
Riera's general slowness (both in feet and speed of thought). Also his decision making.
Babel's lack of intelligence.
Kuyt's dreadful one-on-one finishing and rapist first touch.
Voronin's ponytail (which compounds his lack of ability).

I know it's not supposed to be crappy players, but really the ones I really don't like are Voronin and Lucas. I don't know it it's because I can't seperate their faces from the crapness.

Especially Voronin, I just don't like his face.

Arbeloa was the one id have said.

I don't really mind any of our first choice 11 these days but Riera and Benayoun can be very frustrating to watch but a joy when on form.
 
if we're talking about which player you believe shouldn't ever really be on the pitch then for me its Babel.

But if its 'which established player do you not really feel the love for' then its mascherano for me too. I kinda think the least Masher should offer for his position is consistency. I recognise that he sometimes absolutely monsters games and can be invaluable, but for me he doesn't do it often enough. The absolutely constant whining (often when he's clearly in the wrong - i'm constantly afraid he'll talk himself into a red) and the fact that I'm sure he'll fuck off to spain at the first opportunity don't help either.

And the shooting thing is well annoying. I'm sure Rafas tld him to contribute more in attack this year, fair enough, but he seems to have decided that means 'shoot with riise-like optimism' at every opportunity. He'll probably score a screamer this season, but he'll also have wasted about 100 good attacks by twatting it into row z

How does the fact that neither of them have hardly ever been fully fit at the same time so we've rarely seen how they work together make it clear that they should be the main CB pairing?

I'm amazed at almost every thread in here. I really am.

Stevie pisses me off occasionally, so does carra.

They're still amongst the first names on teh teamsheet for me, & who I demand performances from, & they let me down less than any other player in that squad, so I couldnt possibly not be a fan.

Yeah, it's clear Stevie's a big headed twat at times, but he's our big headed twat, & without him this club may well have been mid-table & trophyless for the last few years.
 
I appreciate being talented can mean being big headed, but his book is a testement to his lack of respect for other players. There are other players who are extremely talented and don't appear cunts. Kaka springs to mind

I read his book too, mate, and other than a few cringe-worthy sections, typical of athletes when the "write" books, I didn't put it down thinking "Jeepers, what a cnut our skipper is".

If you sincerely think he's a cnut, I'd suggest that you may have set out to reach that conclusion...
