I only got to the game after he'd been subbed.
How was he?
How was he?
Great little debut. Put himself about well, wasn't phased, retained the ball well, tracked back well, and linked up with the forwards nicely.
Only thing I want to know, is it "I-Be", or "E-Bay"?
the first one
Thanks, heard people say it both so wanted to be sure.
Just seen the 1minute highlights on MOTD, I saw this guy with IBE on the back and was trying to figure out who ? - nice tricky move that led to the goal I think.
Born in Bermondsey on December 8, 1995 – exactly 13 months before Jamie Carragher made his Liverpool debut – Ibe is a young winger of similar ilk to Raheem Sterling.
Having been released by Charlton Athletic aged 12, after four years at the club, he joined Wycombe Wanderers when Paul Lambert was manager in 2007.
It’s been an impressive rise. He made his Wycombe debut aged just 15 years, 244 days in August 2011 when coming off the bench in a Carling Cup win over Colchester, then became the youngest Football League scorer in history after finding the goal on his first start in a 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. Ibe drilled a finish after dribbling past three defenders.
‘He is 15 and to do that on your debut tells you the quality the lad has got,’ said Wycombe manager Gary Waddock. ‘We just want to make sure he goes on and fulfils the potential. He could play at the highest level.’
That goal attracted attention and less than two months later Liverpool came calling. A fee of around £500,000 was agreed for the 16-year-old, who went to work under Frank McParland, the club’s academy director and contributor to MailOnline's Footballers' Football Column
He played for Liverpool last July in their pre-season game against MLS side Toronto, being replaced by Joe Cole, and was a key figure in the under-18 team’ s run to the FA Youth Cup semi-final, scoring three times.
He has also progressed to the under-21 side this campaign and made the bench for the senior team at Southampton in March. After the match he revealed under-21 manager Alex Inglethorpe had used footage of Cristiano Ronaldo to teach him techniques.
Ibe said: ‘20 of Ronaldo’s goals last season were one touch finishes at the back post. He’s been helping me to get within the frame of the goal and in the six-yard box.’
Not quite. He was aged 17 years, 162 days for his debut against QPR, putting him fourth in Liverpool’s all-time list. Jack Robinson, Raheem Sterling, and Michael Owen were all younger.
Unsurprisingly, he possess great pace but can also lay claim to a good first touch, slick dribbling, and decent finish. All the requisites for a Premier League winger.
was pleased with what I saw, still early days, but he seemed to be unfazed and willing to play the simple passes which bodes well.
slightly digressing, but how is Sinclair getting along? How does he compare with the Ibe's, sterling's and co?They seem to have given him a lot of license in the ressies to bomb on and play on instinct. I think next season he needs to be given more tactical challenges, and maybe sometimes work for Sinclair instead of the other way round. He's a very good prospect and fairly exciting already but he'll need to work hard on his game to push up to the next level.
Mate are you trolling?he's no agbonlahor, though.
