Good first appearance, positive and got an assist.

Same can be said for Robinson and Flanagan, mind. Except for the assist bit.

Great little debut. Put himself about well, wasn't phased, retained the ball well, tracked back well, and linked up with the forwards nicely.

Only thing I want to know, is it "I-Be", or "E-Bay"?

the first one

I think it's probably Ee-bee, that sounds more likely to me and it's also what Joe Cole called him on the coverage of last season's pre-season tour of the United States of America and Canada.

Apart from a little more tracking back (including one excellent steal) I thought he was very similar to sterling - very quick, likes getting past a man, but a little lightweight and not really any end product. He did get an 'assist' for coutinho, but due to coutinho smashing it from 30yards it wasn't so much of a chance Ibe created.
Not a bad debut, but very little to see at the moment, same as sterling. Hope they both become brilliant in the future.

Ibe looks a bit more physically developed than Sterling - more bulked up.

Suso really needs to go out on loan and play competitive football regularly at a team like Norwich, Southampton or WBA next season.

Youngest goalscorer this season: Sterling
Youngest player assist this season: Ibe

Good start in a pretty tough league

Just seen the 1minute highlights on MOTD, I saw this guy with IBE on the back and was trying to figure out who ? - nice tricky move that led to the goal I think.

It's always a good idea to be reasonably familiar with the whole squad to prevent yourself looking so silly. Or you could just not admit it on a website...

He played well and definitely wasn't phased by the occasion. There's still a long way to go for him, but it was an encouraging start.

Good start to his career. It's only one game; but it seems he might potentially be better than Sterling.

Jordan Ibe is the latest Liverpool winger to make his Premier League debut at a young age.

He made a fine first impression with an assist for Phillippe Coutinho’s opener against Queens Park Rangers and energetic display overall.

Here is the story behind the 17-year-old.

Who is Jordan Ibe?

Born in Bermondsey on December 8, 1995 – exactly 13 months before Jamie Carragher made his Liverpool debut – Ibe is a young winger of similar ilk to Raheem Sterling.

If not a local lad, where did he start his career?

Having been released by Charlton Athletic aged 12, after four years at the club, he joined Wycombe Wanderers when Paul Lambert was manager in 2007.

Not good enough for Charlton five years ago but now a Premier League starter?

It’s been an impressive rise. He made his Wycombe debut aged just 15 years, 244 days in August 2011 when coming off the bench in a Carling Cup win over Colchester, then became the youngest Football League scorer in history after finding the goal on his first start in a 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. Ibe drilled a finish after dribbling past three defenders.

‘He is 15 and to do that on your debut tells you the quality the lad has got,’ said Wycombe manager Gary Waddock. ‘We just want to make sure he goes on and fulfils the potential. He could play at the highest level.’

So the signs were there. How did his Premier League move come about?
That goal attracted attention and less than two months later Liverpool came calling. A fee of around £500,000 was agreed for the 16-year-old, who went to work under Frank McParland, the club’s academy director and contributor to MailOnline's Footballers' Football Column

How did he adapt to life on Merseyside?

He played for Liverpool last July in their pre-season game against MLS side Toronto, being replaced by Joe Cole, and was a key figure in the under-18 team’ s run to the FA Youth Cup semi-final, scoring three times.

He has also progressed to the under-21 side this campaign and made the bench for the senior team at Southampton in March. After the match he revealed under-21 manager Alex Inglethorpe had used footage of Cristiano Ronaldo to teach him techniques.

Ibe said: ‘20 of Ronaldo’s goals last season were one touch finishes at the back post. He’s been helping me to get within the frame of the goal and in the six-yard box.’

Is he the club’s youngest player?
Not quite. He was aged 17 years, 162 days for his debut against QPR, putting him fourth in Liverpool’s all-time list. Jack Robinson, Raheem Sterling, and Michael Owen were all younger.

What’s his style?
Unsurprisingly, he possess great pace but can also lay claim to a good first touch, slick dribbling, and decent finish. All the requisites for a Premier League winger.

was pleased with what I saw, still early days, but he seemed to be unfazed and willing to play the simple passes which bodes well.

They seem to have given him a lot of license in the ressies to bomb on and play on instinct. I think next season he needs to be given more tactical challenges, and maybe sometimes work for Sinclair instead of the other way round. He's a very good prospect and fairly exciting already but he'll need to work hard on his game to push up to the next level.

slightly digressing, but how is Sinclair getting along? How does he compare with the Ibe's, sterling's and co?

I like him. He's not as eyecatching as Ibe but he's a little more mature in the way he plays, and in that sense he'd probably slot into the first team more easily than Ibe. He's not ready yet but next season ought to be his real test.

Ibe was decent enough on debut and looked confident. Wasn't out of his depth and played well.

Good surprise sprung by BR!

Cheers for that. He looks even better in that clip; the choppy streams I had made me so frustrated I must've missed some of those moments. The quick shuffle step at the 1:43 mark was very good. Totally sold the defender the wrong way but too bad he didn't get much support in the box. And I definitely missed that strong cross-field run at the 2:25 mark or so to close down the QPR player.

That's how you leave an impression and get called back to join the first team again. Aspiring Academy and Reserve team players should take note of his solid league debut (if Sterling's and Wisdom's haven't inspired them beforehand).

I'm surprised at some of the comments in here. That was one of the most promising debuts I have seen in I don't how long.

He seems just as pacey as Sterling, though far more confident and a lot stronger.

Really don't think anyone of us could have asked for a better debut from a 17 year old. He will be raring to go next after that taster. Well done BR!

I can honestly say I haven't been this excited with one of our youth players ever since Gerrard broke into the team.

I love his style, looks so solid and assured on the ball. Considering that Sterling struggled quite a lot in his earliest appearances it was quite a debut.
