Iago Aspas has admitted he will seek a permanent transfer from Anfield this summer, having made only 13 league appearances since a £7.2m arrival from Celta Vigo. The 26-year-old striker, whose chances have been limited by the outstanding form of Luis Suárez and Daniel Sturridge, has said: "I'm not 20 years old any more, I can't go on loan and explode (in someone else's hands) . I think the best would be to transfer to another club where I can find the best fit for myself and the club."

Ah well... NEXT!

BR is doing great, but he'll have to sign better moving forward!

Sorry for the lad, he seems to have heart and genuinely care for us but just not up to scratch for this team. Hope he gets a good move and we get most of our money back.

On the other hand it was good to see that Rodgers realised his mistake and didn't try to shoe-horn him in at every opportunity.

Remember people were saying he's a proper nutcase, making slight Suarez comparisons, nutcase wise?

Massive letdown.

Whats he worth now?

Should'v sold him to Swansea whilst Laudrup was still in charge.

I wonder if Valencia still want him.

swap him (and cash) for another Spanish starlet like greiezman/munrian. His stock in Spain should be high still.

Someone on Red Cafe said of Aspas last summer:

Seen him a few times, very good player.
Quick, has good movement and can play behind a striker or on the flanks too.

Likes to drop deep and start attacks and whilst a goal scorer can also create them too.

Think of a Craig Bellamy only much better.

The Bellamy comparison came up quite a bit before he arrived. I must admit I quite liked him when I saw him in pre-season games, but it's all been a big disappointment.

Good. He's fucking shite, and it was obvious he'd be shite when we signed him - despite those friendly games against nobody where he was okay.

Yep. It always annoys me when people get excited about some stupid flick or something in a summer friendly. And then months later when the shit player actually turns out to be shit loads of them say 'well we were all happy enough with him last summer, he looked great'.

No, he didn't, and no, we weren't.

It's up there with Tim Howards tourettes, I was expecting fuck shit fuck fuck cunt and all he does is twitch a little bit when he's irate.

I can't wait to read what is said on here during the next pre-season games. I'm guessing the threads will be extremely brief and circumspect.

I wonder how many of the negative posters also were amongst those writing Sterling off 12 months ago. The qualities which made Rodgers buy him were not fictitious. It didn't work out for him at Anfield for whatever reason - he did not meet expectations. The same training staff which has done such a great job with much of our squad this season has clearly not succeeded with Aspas.
