May be...

But can you deny that the mods are turning the otherway when a poster has clearly crossed the line...just because he is a popular member. It leaves a bit of bad taste in the mouth. Hence my reaction. At least have the courage to admit it, don't turn everything into a big joke.....it's all i'm saying.
Who's upset you KJ? If a post offends then, please, use the "Report To Moderator" button and it will be dealt with. Is it in this thread ? I'm struggling to see what you're going on about if it is.

It's not in this thread. I have reported the post....it's just that the same attitude spills over to this thread.

I faced similar vitriol from Mark when i disagreed with him on the signing of Downing. Now Dreamy was called a retard for saying something that is against the general opinion of the forum at this minute (lets face it, the popular opinion changes every minute anyway). I still don't think Lucas is "the best DM is the league", because of a few good performances recently...so what.... it's my opinion. I'm not ashamed for having it. When a person gets called a retard for airing an opinion that is similar to yours, it's hard not to feel offended.

King julian is a great poster.

I like reading his football posts and he's good in the geeks forum too.

So back the fuck off,esse's*?

If I did KJ I apologise, I don't remember but I remember defending the move. Anyways, it's not really the opinion with Dreamy, trawl through his recent posts & he comes into every thread deliberately posting against the grain on some stupid pretence.

We all argue passionately on here and we've all dished it out because of frustration or whatever, ok some people do it more than others and go over the top, some people ask for it aswell. If I've had a go in general on here, it's usually with people I enjoy debating with, it's rare I've given someone shit on here just because they've posted against the grain, it's usually because they're a bellend, like Sven and if not, it's just passionate debate and schoolground stuff, I means no harm and I'm sure most posters are the same.

Its defo more socially acceptable to call someone a retard than it is a cunt though.

'Dreamy is a cunt' would be farrrrr worse. At least I think it would be.

Maybe make a poll.

Yet when I had an opposing opinion on the Lucas debate many people resorted to calling me names. This is what happens sometimes when people get irate and frustrated. They're welcome of course to repeat them in person.

Cunt is thrown about all the time on here, it's just another swear word, I think retard is more offensive, maybe it's just me? I always find it a more cagey term than cunt/twat whatever.

I was in the wrong a bit too mate....so i didn't take it to heart. I was a lil bit more than angry at the time because we were spending that kind of money on Downing. So i thought may be i should calm down. I only brought it up, because the forum is not kind to posters who digress from the popular sentiment.

Dreamy doesn't come across as a very smart poster, but i still don't see what he has done wrong. In fact i find myself agreeing with some of the things he says in a roundabout sort of way....

Of course you agree with what he's saying. Yourself and Kenny4PM were some of Lucas strongest critics and it must be difficult for you both seeing him play so well of late.

I have been called a cunt many times in real life by my friends....and i wear it with a bit of pride. It's my opinion that you have to be a bit of a cunt to do well in life.

I'll certainly not feel the same way if someone called me a retard.

It's a hard job to herd the internet crowd and get called "granpa" for it....trust me it's not lost on me.

I'm not sure the below is the best approach, and i'm pretty sure that's not the status quo on most occasions when a popular poster is not involved. I really doubt you were called a retard mate.

"They're welcome of course to repeat them in person."

LOL @ grandpa.

*Smashes glass into KJs melon*

I always take the approach that I speak to people on here as I would to them in person KJ. Many don't which I don't really understand and then use "it's the internet" as an excuse. Anyway, shit happens and it's only the internet.

I didn't get to watch the last two games. I'm happy for the result of course, and from the highlights he has played really well. I have no problem in admitting he has played well. If he does this consistently i have no problem in singing a different song. It's been only a few games, and i'm not ready to think along the lines of "Best DM in the league" yet......so i'd appreciate if that opinion is not shoved down my throat.

As i said, i think we will do just fine for the rest of the season. We won't finish lower than 6th place in any case, so i don't really agree with the sentiment that this is the biggest loss of the season so far....

I look forward to see what the rest of them have got.....

I'd kind of agree with Julian on this point - certainly not on the muck he comes out with regarding Lucas but he makes a fair point here.

It'd be pretty sad if we went the same way of RAWK who've lost the respect of most other footballing sites. There's always going to be a majority view of posters within a site but that shouldn't become the view of the site itself. If you posted that Lucas was poor on RAWK and pushed it you were told to cool it or a ban would be following. I remember having an argument on there that Carra wasn't the best CB the club had seen in 20 years - I even had the temerity to suggest that he wasn't the best CB we'd seen in the last 5 years and maybe not been part of the best CB partnership. I was told to pull out of the wind-up mode or I'd be banned very quickly.

Personal abuse of a poster because of his/her opinion is hardly in the sites best interests. It can certainly be pretty hard when you've got some utter morons with small time opinions and the inability to present them coherently but it is what it is.

I think yes there's been some hyperbole on Lucas' being best DM in the league. Mind you there's certainly not that many decent ones in the EPL. His performances have been top class of late though. If he plays shit in a game it's quite alright to say "Lucas was shit" because it's fair comment. I've said when he has played shit. On the flip side of that it would be nice when people could give him credit when he's played really well - and most have to be fair.

And then there's Ross who is in complete denial when Lucas plays excellently. That's OK though because he's put his faith in Shelvey so we can see how that works out although I actually think it will be Spearing coming into the team in place of Lucas. Shelvey will be Adams understudy. As for Shelvey - I hope he brings his Championship form into the team. I think he has talent and does possess excellent passing vision. End of the day the team winning is the most important thing regardless of personnel.

Oh I agree, although being a scouser I fucking hate seeing us play with no Scouser in the side!

We went from 5 - 0 Gerrard Carra Kelly and Spearing with Flannigan guesting to the last couple of games and not a Scouser in sight!

Let's face it. If you've seen anything of lucas whatsoever this season and haven't been impressed, you'd be a little bit dim in the head.

The best part is,he's still got ages left, its not cast in iron but he has the potential to go on and become a massive player for this club.

Lucas, shelvey and henderson. We could be set for years to come!

I think since the moment lucas first joined and was denied a clear goal v everton (with neville clearing off the line with his hand) I thought lucas was a competent performer and that stance hasn't changed even during the dips in his form. of late lucas has taken his level above 'competent' to 'excellent' but some people go on like he was excellent from day one, he wasn't.

lucas has improved every aspect of his game;
he is harder to shrug off the ball - when previously he looked lightweight
he is shifting the ball faster - when previously he was getting caught in possession
he is starting to make more forward passes - when previously he was passing square

I always thought that lucas was an accurate passer of the ball though, sideways or otherwise far more so than mash who I thought was ridiculously wasteful in possession.

you have to salute any player who is prepared to work on every aspect on his game until he indispensable.

Is Kelly a scouser ASBO? I always thought we'd bought him, I get the point though. At least we're looking like we've got a bit of a British identity back anyway.

Sorry Wizadry - I disagree with lots you've written there. Firstly I don't think we've ever had any majority view on anything here - apart from Roy who everyone hated. There's people who polarises opinions such as Rafa and Lucas and that stimulates debate which can get overly heated at times. We're never going to go the way of RAWK though and I to be mentioned as 'going the same way as RAWK' is wide of the mark if you ask me mate. In fact it's completely incredulous. People don't get banned for having an opinion on here. In fact people seldom get banned at all unless they're a spammer, absolute loon or have been abusing or insulting other posters and then after a least a warning and, even in that scenario, bans are generally temporary. We don't like handing out bans - that's a fact. It's not enjoyable in the slightest.

Most of the time things are dealt with in good humour and we can be largely self-regulating which is a testament to this site. Of course, posters like to complain about the site from time to time which does become a bit tedious given the time that's put into it and sometimes I do take a "If you don't like it then don't come here" approach. We never ban people for that though. People are welcome to have their opinion as long as they can be moderately respectful to each other. Keep the banter, cut the shite if you know what I mean. We're not RAWK and we never will be and to even suggest we're even the slightest bit close to that is a little bit insulting and disheartening if I'm honest mate. Thanks

I think he is the player in our squad who has shown the highest improvement from season to season over the last three years.

He has been consistent in one thing (regardless of how he plays in any particlar game), his improvement from season to season. He is not the same player now as he was last season, and he was not the same player as he was the previous season. But it is equally undeniable that he started from a pretty low point. Fair play to him if he is able to play like he has played in the last few games on a more consistent basis....

Till that happens, i think he is at best a good squad player.

Look!

Roy to me is Uncle Roy, a good man who tried his best and served the club for years!

The other one is HodgePodge or Hodgeson! A tw@t who blamed everyone except himself for almost getting us relegated ....

Ha, Roy Evans is a top bloke. His son lives two doors down from me, spitting image of him he is.

So you are ok if i called you a retard when my opinion differs from yours?

I thought you could call a spade a spade mate....clearly i was mistaken.
Woooaaah I missed all this.
Yes you can call me a retard thats fine.
I try not to dish out the personal abuse, simply because I know how touchy come folk are in regards to it. I hope that when I do people dont take it too seriously, as it really isnt. I dont think Dreamy is a retard OBVIOUSLY. I dont think Spiderneil is a bellend OBVIOUSLY. I generally just post the way I speak to my mates (maybe i shouldnt with some people) and I really hope that people can see that. I think Ryan is the same to be honest. I'm unsure that Brendan was.

I have never once complained about anyone calling me a 'name' on the internet, and I have only once seen abuse on here that went too far, and that was a post made about 5 years ago.

It very rarely gets personal on here and by and large whenever someone is told to pack it in they do so, and I think thats what you can expect.
My post above yours was a joke in regard to the part of your post relating to getting your head kicked in.

And regarding wizzys post about us going down the rawk road, I cant ever see that happening simply because as Mods we cant fucking agree about anything. Therefore how the fuck we would have a popular opinion that everyone has to stick to is beyond me.

Summing up. Yes you can call me a retard here or in real life. I really couldnt give a fuck.
