Toffees CEO Robert Elstone revealed that the club has come to an agreement over their Finch Farm complex to continue to use their facilities on a long-term lease
Everton and Liverpool City Council have announced a new rental agreement over the Merseyside club's Finch Farm training base.

The local authority has purchased the training facility outright in a deal both parties claim will benefit the club and the council in the long-term.

Everton will pay a lower annual rental cost, while the council will still get a competitive return on the property.

Toffees CEO Robert Elstone told the club's official website: "We continue to work with the council on many fronts and the club is especially pleased to have delivered an innovative scheme, on our superb Finch Farm facility, that works for both parties."

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson added: "It’s a very good deal for us, and for Everton.

“Over the lifetime of this arrangement we will get much needed revenue, which we can re-invest in essential services for the people of Liverpool.

“Together with the new Exhibition Centre, the council regard such investments as innovative but vital in enabling it to meet its on-going budget challenges.”

I'm assuming the actual cost is met with cash the council 'have to spend' meaning they have been allocated cash to spend on community projects etc & will get less next funding review if they don't spend it.

They also then get a return on that cash, which they wouldn't if they used it in genuine community projects.

I'm pretty sure the Vernon sangster club wasn't a dissimilar arrangement with us over using part of the park for parking. Although that was a long time ago so I'm not 100% sure.

It sounds as though the Bitters' long-running campaign to provoke the council with claims of LFC bias has finally paid off:

Mayor Anderson said: “It’s a good deal for us and for them.
“We will get revenue from it, and it frees up money for the club.
“When I was approached to see if we could assist, we were happy to, and after a few months of negotiation it was done.
This nails the lie that we do nothing for Everton.

That deal is well weird. The council is selling everything it can for bargain rates at the minute coz it is skint

City do the same with their academy like, you can just book and use their 5 a side pitches and stuff

Like I said earlier I reckon they figured out they can use an eu grant intended for community benefit to buy it, & benefit from rent back too.

I'd put it slightly differently, namely: the bitters have finally come up with a stratagem which the council (which, given the allegiance of certain key figures, has long wanted an excuse to give them a leg up) can use with a straight face.

I really don't think we should be laughing at Everton.
We have our own problems and we've probably been the biggest laughing stock in English football these past few years.
Carroll
Suarez
Being Liverpool
Downing

Did I miss something?

21 somethings.

That's 21 trophies in the 18 years since Everton last won one.

Also, Suarez doesnt make us a laughing stock. He's arguably the best player in the league, & any side would take him, bites & all.

Just cos the media portray him as the devil incarnate it doesnt make us a laughing stock for keeping him cos his talent makes it worth it, even though he's clearly a bit mental, & possibly a cunt, & everyone of those fuckers know it. Shame all our fans dont.

Ask the fans of Blackburn Rovers if they'd swap all those things you listed for being owned by the Venky's.

We're not in a position to dictate what others make of us. They read the papers, listen to the pundits and decide that we're a joke.
They might be wrong, but for us to look at Everton and say, "we'll they're worse off" despite the fact that they've finished ahead of us for like two seasons in a row, doesn't really make up for anything.

We can laugh at them considering they think that finishing ahead of Liverpool is an *achievement*

We're not a laughing stock because he plays for us, we're a laughing stock because we keep defending him

I don't recall anyone defending 'bitey cunt'. Most were just upset about the inconsistencies of the F.A.
Phew, almost fucked up the thread.

At Everton's general meeting at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Some familiar faces here - Keith Wyness, Tom Cannon, Laurence Lee etc.

Elstone says Everton are looking at funding options for a new stadium with Liverpool city council.

Elstone taking great pride in being described as "the Premier League's most likeable club" by the Daily Telegraph.

The Q&A begins with a fan asking if a shared stadium "with the other team from the other side of the park" is still on the agenda

Kenwright says a shared stadium is on the agenda but hasn't been moved forward "despite the obvious advantages of it."
