He's a keeper...

I'd be amazed if we don't sign a new keeper (or two) in January with Mignolet's slow mental deterioration almost complete and Jones yet again proving himself a poor back-up (also out of contract in the summer).

We've been variously linked to Cech (loan), Neti and Perin.

So, who is this new keeper going to be? Who would you like us to be realistically in for?

I'll start. I think we have a chance of getting Cech in on loan (and might go for Perin in the summer).
I'd like us to go for Victor Enyeama of Lille. At 32, he's at the peak of his career and would likely jump at a big Prem move. He's great with his feet (he has to be playing for Nigeria), very quick off his line and likes to command his box with style. 8m should do it.

I watched him play many times when he was in Israel - excellent shot stopper, very comfortable with his feet (excellent penalty taker) & good communicator. He never impressed me with his presence in the box -

Cheers for the scouting report Wiz. I'm only going on some vids but he looks to have improved in his command of things? I just think he'd fit our system perfectly.

I'd love Cech in on loan or otherwise. I don't blame Mourinho for prioritising Courtois, but Cech himself hasn't actually done anything to deserve losing his place and will still do someone a bang-up job. It'd be great if that was us because boy, we need him. I'd like it even more if we could turn the loan into a purchase because I reckon he has plenty of top level football left in his locker.

I hope we don't go for Perin because after that gozzy, gormless blert Aquilani (copyright Lippy 😀) and lately Borini and Balotelli I don't want us signing any more Italians. Not ever. Sorry Wizzy, but it's rare that one turns out to be suited here and you can bet we wouldn't find any who might be.

Yep.
I'd have Cech in a heartbeat.
Easily in the top ten in the world at the moment.

I wouldn't say he is anymore, but he's still got enough in the tank to do a job for someone and we'd be ideal. We need his experience. That said, the big worry is that most keepers will have a look at our defense and the way we're set up, and say "fuck that".

He's definitely improved ... he'd be one of the best goalies in the league I'm sure.

I'd be struggling to name 10 better keepers over the last three or four years.
He's been unlucky with the Courtois situation and most managers would bite hand and all to have him.
Just can't see it happening though.

I have no idea. I don't like the idea of signing some middle of the road option like Enyeama but then signing an up and coming keeper also has it's risks.

If money was no object who would you guys sign?

For the 22nd time - Cech !

Pretty much, I hope we don't gamble on someone, right now we need a bit of stability and experience in a few key areas, because our confidence and tendency to crumble under pressure is becoming our trademark this season. You can see the difference Toure and Lucas made to us on that note.

Asmir Begoviç for £10m would be OK I reckon. If we could get £5m for Mignolet and pray that Jones doesn't get near the pitch again before his contract is up then could enough to get us up the table as we look almost afraid to go forward at times and I think it's because the midfield is scared shitless of losing the ball because they know whats back there protecting the goal. In fact I've wanted Begoviç since Pepe discovered the joys of being fat.

Be realistic though.

The likes of De Gea and Courtois are unavailable even to clubs with an open cheque book.

Begovvic, krul,. Cant see chelsea giving us cech. Guzan looks good with crosses

Should have signed vorm on summer, too good for a reserve at spurs

I like Enyeama & he 2013/2014 was a season to remember for him. Like LTW mentioned, he's a good shot stopper, good with his feet and I'll add that he's quite good as a keeper-sweeper too, so he'll give his defence a bit of confidence on that front.

Having watched him for some 12 years now, his handling of crosses does leave a bit to be desired. If the ball's coming into his area from the flanks, let's just say I'm never 100% confident he'll deal with it. See Pogba's goal for France against Nigeria at the WC as a case in point.

I think lloris is the kweeper best suited to our style. Excellent with the ball at his feet, loves play as a sweeper behind his defense allowing them to play a higher line and hes an all round excellent keeper too. No idea how much Spurs would want for him though

Spurs would never sell Lloris to us, not unless we slapped 30m on the table (and that won't happy obv.). He's been the main reason they're in the hunt for the 4th spot, keeping them in games they have no right to still be in, then they nick a late goal. I'd say the difference this season between Lloris and Mignolet has been a 15 point swing.

Keylor Navas, 27.

Was fantastic for Costa Rica at the World Cup, earn himself a move to Real Madrid (paid his 8m release clause from Levante) and has sat on the bench (4 appearances) this season whilst Casillas continues as first choice.

Get him in on loan with a permanent option?

Heh weirdly I just looked up his stats to check how many games he's played this season.

I don't think Real would let him go but worth a go perhaps.

Wasn't he statistically the best keeper last year or something?

I don't know. Tbh, I just recall him being excellent at the World Cup on all fronts.
