Hazard Type Players

The need for an attacker that is capable of occupying an opposition defence consistently is something we completely lack. Chelsea will be really fucked without Hazard. Man City have Sane, and B.Silva, these guys run at pace and can dribble, but are also physically strong so Coutinho is not one of them. The only other close one would be Zaha.

I am talking about a player out there that you know or think can do the shit for us that Hazard demonstrated at Chelsea. We need one.

I really dont think we are in the mark for such a player.Hazard is a superb, arguably the most skillful player running with the ball at his feet in the premier league. I dont think Sane, Zaha or Silva offer anything like the same qualities he does. I also dont believe Klopp would take Hazard over Mané despite the gap in skill.

But these players drain defences by consistently running at them and dribbling. We need one, and that cup final where we were unable to string passes together aint the first time its happened. Without one our defence needs to play at its best all the fucking time.

Sane and Zaha aren't really the same type of player as Hazard and B Silva - they're wingers. And we do have wide, pacy attacking threats (or wingers, if you like).

Two of them, in fact. Salah and Mane.

What we don't have is a creative, attacking player who can operate centrally and is more of a classic attacking midfield player or number 10, which Hazard and Silva both are.
Unless we think Oxlade-Chamberlain can do it, but again, he isn't exactly it either.

B. Silva and Sane from City that you list play in the exact same positions Mane and Salah play in. And those two constantly run at and between players. And I wouldn’t swap them for our pair.

Would love to get a Silva type playmaker that can create and dictate the tempo.

Carragher was talking about that traditional NO 10 player, and how he thinks that position is becoming less favoured with top teams. The preference being for wide attackers in a front 3. I still see Firmino as an evolved No 10, because we play with inverted wingers, who essentially become strikers, with Bobby playing them in.

As with all things, they come and go as trends change, but I still think we could have used a little more flair and creativity in our CM trio at times last season.

But yeah, it does seem as if the "luxury" of the creative AM number 10 who swans about and doesn't get too involved (Ozil) is over.

You are correct about Sane, and Zaha not being like Hazard and B.Silva in terms of where they play. But what I was trying to express (and not doing it too well) - is that they are the type of players that dribble with power and pace if you get what I am trying to say.

Don't get me wrong, I would not swap Salah, or Mane for any of them, but I just feel when we sometimes needed that breakthrough they were not able create those chaos type situations against the opposition. The best reference I can give - is the type of goal that Salah scored against Spurs last season at Anfield (his second), I just wish he and Mane could do more of that against stubborn defences, but I understand that is not going to happen very often. For that reason I wish we could get a player that we could bring on and guarantee that we could cause those chaotic situations for the opposition defence.

Having such a player gives the team breathing space when it struggles to retain possession.

How about Fornals at Villareal...

Just checked him out on youtube - not sure what to think - nice passes but not seeing him beat 2 - 3 defenders and causing chaos, I really have not got a clue to be honest, that is why I have put the question out to the forum.

Check out Nicolas Pepe then

Is this thread a pisstake? Talks about one Hazard like players I'm the title and then in the subject compares Hazard to players who are not at all like him and to players who play a different position all together...WTF?

Haha yeah, Hazard is very much a wing-forward like Mane or Salah. The comparisons to the likes of Silva and Eriksen are strange.
