Remember the return leg even more ...

Will never forget that winner against Fulham. I was so sure we were going to win the league.

Funny how well we did considering we had a team of grafters in that era that played well above their capacity - Yossi, Kuyt and Riera in that pic all stand out

I'm not sure that's fair on Yossi. He was a grafter but not just a grafter, and caused us plenty of trouble playing for W.Ham. Deadly and Riera I agree about, though Deadly had a big game temperament up there with the best.

Yossi had wonderful feet, calmness and a great touch. A yard of pace and an extra stone on his frame held him back from being elite. He was our best player for large chunks of that season

To the tune of Hava Nagila

Yossi,
Oh Yossi Yossi
Oh Yossi Yossi
Oh Yossi Benayoun ayyyeeee

Ha ha ha ... I wonder if he ever heard it - I don't think he's ever talked mentioned it (he does mention how he loved Liverpool - then again, what players don't?)

I totally agree with the second sentence. But he was never world class, and not mentioned in the top class bracket all that often. The work ethic in that team made them all close to real stars when in any other team they'd be nobodies

Fair comment but I think the fundamental point, which I'd agree with, is that in a different kind of set-up they'd have looked, and probably would have genuinely been, lesser players.

Kuyt was a great player for us. It was not just the goals he scored for us, it was his work rate and the amount of times he won the ball break which started the attacks which lead to goals...and he was one of the best penalty takers for us.

Imagine if we had bought Carlos Tevez to Anfield the year that he had joined City from Man Utd, with the work rate of them both; and they ability to win back the ball and the goal scoring abilities, I have no doubt we would have won the EPL a lot sooner.

Yossi Benayoun was underrated by Rafa that's for sure... And if Lallana was as good as Benayoun we win the title last season too

Which results do you think would have been different?

Yossi only had 2 faces - I swear I never seen the man smile.

Imagine him and Milner rooming together.

Most of the games where we needed that bit extra to break teams down, game where we needed to link better with the front three, games where we neeeded to have that little bit of quality with that final pass and the vision to make it. All the qualities that Adam (No end produce) Lallana lacks.

If they were the same age, and If we had a player like Benayoun instead of Lallana we win one or more of those games we drew last season that to me seems obvious and it makes us Champions

That was originally Ronny Rosenthal's song on the Kop.
When I took the Anfield tour in March, we got to the press conference room. When the guide there realised we were Israelis he started singing the Ronny Rosenthal song as well as There's only one Avi Cohen.
