European Tidbits

Doesn't surprise me.
We should cancel his loan.
And their fans think that Bobby Clark is shit, which also doesn't surprise me.

He needs to learn to show fight, can't just try and put him in teams where they will walk every game. It's a good test of his character.

It’s almost as if other teams have their own crazie fans that expect youngsters to immediately settle in to a new team in a new country and be top drawer.

Just saw this on the beeb and had a long think. Did we really buy him once?

Former Aston Villa, Liverpool and Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke clinched Major League Soccer's Golden Boot award this weekend.

Just tells you how shit that league is...no offence my fellow LFC supporting US based members

Went to see the USMNT play in Austin last week v Panama. Mauricio's first game. Man, Panama should have won.

Referees now have earphones in their ears. That means that they are being communicated to by others. All sorts of information can be provided to them like that. The way that football games are officiated has greatly changed in a very short period of time. Old-school managers like Mourinho are not well used to such changes. Aaand, there's always (potential for) dirty things going on too.

Ultimately, Mourinho has a point here. And that point is not the one he made in that presser about the referee being able to see two things at the same time. The point he actually has is that the refereeing decisions are taken away from the referee and that nobody really knows how those decisions are made. Who observers what, who provides what communication to the referee, and who else has a capacity to communicate to all individuals involved in that process.

Somebody communicated to the referee TO give Mourinho red card in this situation.

Somebody communicated to the referee NOT TO conduct a video review of the foul on Nunez in the Leipzig game.

Somebody communicated to the referee TO conduct a video review of that Arsenal foul in their Bournemouth game.

Somebody communicated to the referee NOT TO conduct a video review of that foul on Jota in the Chelsea game.

Nobody knows the reasons why those decisions are made the way they were made. Mourinho didn't have to get a red card. Nunez foul could have and should have been reviewed. The Arsenal foul in the Bournemouth game didn't have to be reviewed. That foul on Jota in the Chelsea game could have been reviewed. That's how games are managed by individuals who are not on the pitch and who are not the referee. And those decisions are hidden from the public so that nobody knows how and why those decisions are made.

Disgusting scenes from Amsterdam as Jewish fans were targeted by thugs. This never serves the Pal cause.

The news here is mad. Like front page worldwide news. Nobody would give a shit if it was a team from Poland

Seems like there's a part missing in the middle. Shitty chants happen a lot, they shouldn't, but they do. Somehow that turned into riots. I'm thinking there's a bit more that happened. I'm guessing one side or another had planned in advance for their to be violence.

there are also claims that certain police officers in the netherlands aren’t happy protecting jewish events or targets so i wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of protection is embedded within the travelling fans

Maybe or maybe just retaliation for the chants and pulling down of flags. I imagine that would happen anywhere and with any group based on religious or political affiliation or nationality.

It seems the Arab population in The Netherlands is around 700,000 or 5% of the nation. A large number in Amsterdam so the Israelis really were asking for trouble - and got it.
