On the bench? I'd play him. It'd be Jones on the bench (at best) if it were up to me.

Really? If he can't get a game for Hull then i'd rather have Jones.
Well, true and Jones is clearly prone to a howler but it'd be a massive risk which could cost Kenny his job (not suggesting he should!) if he played Gulasci.
Gulacsi hasn't played for months. He's their back up keeper.
Jones for me.
I don't know about reserve games, regarding Gulacsi but Jones has been a regular for the reserves. So at least he's match fit.Neither has Jones apart from last night.

I guess they'll see in training.
considering what he has been through i'm routing for jones to get a game and have a stormer .
Uphill with the penalty save- downhill with the gaff.Fair point but you don't have to be super fit to be a goalie. It's more about sharpness and Jones just didn't look it for me although nerves may have played a part.
what did he do?What Houllier did to Luzi was the most gangsta shit ever.
what did he do?
On another note. I believe the rule will be changing next year and such challenges will earn a yellow card instead if a penalty is awarded. The logic being, although a goalscoring chance is denied one is also given via the penalty
would be great news if true, i've been banging on about the lousiness of the current rule for ages. the other one that always gets me only giving a pen and red card when a player handballs a shot on the line. it'd be better to give a goal and a yellow card, so to avoid obvious injustices like Ghana suffered in the World Cup.
Weirdly i remember getting in Paul Jones but i don't remember Luzi playing.
Imagine you are 2-0 up with 20 mins to play in an important game you need to win. You also have a massive match coming up next. The attacker gets past you and is clean through. What you are going to do now; foul him outside the box, get sent off and miss the next match (which could be a massive loss to your team) or concede the penalty and hope that it is either saved or you can hang onto to your now 2-1 lead?
It's almost a moral dilemma at that point and might depend on your relative worth to your team. When the rule first comes in you are right and people will instinctively not want to give away a penalty. But after a short while, and once some player does make the counter-intuitive choice for the greater good, it could take on a whole new dimension in tactical thinking in those circumstances.
Or attackers just won't get fouled at all as they run through because the permutations are a nightmare for the defedning team.
