Go Goetze him!

Imagine being fans of a Liverpool team drifting towards another tepid 5th/6th place finish and turning your nose up at Mario Gotze, madness. It would be the coup of the summer if we somehow got him.

He's brought in that Grujic for pace aswell I think. Whether he sees him as part of the regular starting 11 I dont know. Maybe Markovic to come back too.
We'll end up with an embarrassment of riches for AM's by the looks of it.

He's bought a 6 foot 3 inch central midfielder for "pace"?

Yeah, its madness alright. Same with Ter Stegen.

Woah, wait a sec. "Coup of the summer"? Anyone would think we were Stoke City being linked to Paul Pogba.

He's played for Klopp before. He's had a largely disastrous move to a "big" club that has seen him lose his place in his club side and national team, and been accused of lack of effort and fitness, and he has only a year left on his contract. And we're Liverpool., one of the most famous, successful and richest clubs in Europe, with one of the best managers, in one of the best leagues.

It's a pretty obvious move, I think.

Why?

Di Maria was supposed to be a coup for United, and he did fuck all there.

If Goetze doesn't fit here, or doesn't add anything we sorely need, it's hardly going to be a coup.

I don't mind him because he's likely an upgrade on Lallana and Markovic. But getting a top striker like Lacazette or Icardi is much more of a priority, and would actually represent a coup.

We're also a mid table team who're trying to sign the guy who won Germany the world cup two years ago. Sure his time at Bayern hasn't been a blinding success, but he's still scored 1 in 3 whilst there and is outrageously talented, whatever way you look at it would be a coup.

You can behave too

Behave?
I'm just surprised by the lack of excitement when we are linked with a World class player.
His "disastrous" Bayern career has still seen him score 1 in 3 with 34 goals in 105 games. Its only this season where he's found himself out of the team.
He was so insanely good under Klopp that a potential link up is very exciting. There are reservations of course with fitness, injuries etc.

Yes, we're Liverpool Football Club but we havent been signing players that top clubs do. Now we're linked with that sort of type of players and that should at least be exciting... Obvious link or not.

So he was good a few years ago because Klopp was his manager - he'll be good again with Klopp as his manager ?

Similar to when Torres reunited with Rafa ?

I'm no medical professional but I know enough about osteitis pubis to have concerns about signing him.

There were serious questions about Di Marias desire to move there and it showed. Working with LvG didnt help either.
The Gotze - Klopp link up is what makes this even more exciting.

We definitely need a top quality striker aswell. Seeing as Benteke will move and we might get Balotelli shipped of to China. The fee from those to players could be enough to get Lacazette etc.

The fact that Di Maria failed spectacularly doesn't change the fact that he was a massive coup at the time, nor does the fact that there are other positions we need to strength more change the fact that Gotze would be a massive coup for us. Being outside of the champions league, Gotze is a higher profile signing than what you'd expect us to make, Icardi probably is too, however after his summer of rejection, Lacazette isn't.

Anyway, I wouldn't expect to just sign Gotze in attack, Benteke is clearly going, so bringing another striker in is clearly on the cards, unless he plans to play Gotze there as a false nine, but I'd doubt that.

LFC plus Klopp plus Premiership plus Money = lots of players who would sign for us.

Why underestimate the combined draw of that? We haven't had a manager so well-respected and highly rated since Benitez. The calibre of player he can attract vs Brendan Rodgers will be significant.

And if clubs like Stoke can get Bojan and Shaquiri, then Gotze to Liverpool is not in any way amazing

Osteitis pubis is an inflammation of the pubic symphysis and surrounding muscle insertions. First described in patients who underwent suprapubic surgery, it remains a well-known complication of invasive procedures about the pelvis. It may also occur as an inflammatory process in athletes.

Rest and time are the primary healing mechanisms. Physical therapy (PT) may be useful during the early stage and has the following goals:
  • To help alleviate pain
  • To start correcting the mechanical problems that precipitated the injury

Osteitis pubis seems to be more prevalent in sports that involve running, kicking, or rapid lateral movements. Sports in which participants develop osteitis pubis more often include the following[2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12] :
  • Soccer
  • Sprinting
  • Ice hockey
  • American football
Soccer involves a great deal of running and rapid change of direction.[13, 14, 15]These movements can lead to strains of the adductor muscles, which change the forces directed on the pelvis during recovery. Kicking is another inciting motion in soccer. Often, the athlete is not well balanced when planting the foot to kick, and this imbalance places a great deal of strain on the muscles that stabilizing him or her for the kick. This strain translates to abnormal forces across the pubic symphysis.

Complications of osteitis pubis are minimal and few are reported. The major complication is a muscle-tendon injury of the adductor muscles due to muscle tightness.

I'm a bit worried about Lacazette - but Icardi? If the rumors were true that we were in for him during the winter break, I'm really hoping we're after him again (supposed fallout with Roiberto). He can be like a mini-version of Suarez

I'm not underestimating that at all mate. I said in another thread that Klopp will attract a whole other level of players.

Getting Gotze would be an amazing signing regardless.
Bojan was out on loan at Ajax and Shaqiri couldnt get a game for a shite Inter team.

This reminds me of that time we signed Aspas.

I don't understand this thinking.

You care more that others might be impressed by the actual signing - than whether a player is good or not.

I think there's a bit more at work here.

Sometimes it's a very useful psychological tool for an organisation to bring in people who cause the wider populace to reassess their opinion of that organisation. A "statement" signing. Of course, it's only genuinely useful if that new addition can also show the individual and collective improvement that makes any positive difference.

I know where your head's at.

Those mewling cretins who, for example, saw the name "Balotelli" and started a retarded circle-jerk about how exciting a signing he was, because signing a famous retarded cunt was ace news, like we were Americans or Man City fans or something.

I'm loving the way Brendan is coming more and more out of his shell on here lately.

He's gonna blow soon at someone. I'll get me Popcorn ready!

You don't need to go to an extreme like Balotelli to see why a statement type signing is a bad idea.

Who re-evaluated United positively for wasting 60m on Di Maria ?

I think Di Maria should have/ would have thrived at United - or any decent club - under a different manager. That's what I'd be most annoyed about if I supported United, because he's clearly a good player.

I'm not going to blow Piedro.

If I was going to blow, it would have been on Saturday, as I traipsed past the Malmaison on the Albert Dock with my wife and kids (fucking soaked) back to the car, and my cunt brother rang me up from the penthouse apartments above it (on a stag do) laughing at me while doing drugs with his twat mates.

Happily, his best mate impaled his leg on a security fence near Bold St a few hours later, and they spent most of the evening in A&E while he had 6 stitches. So who's laughing now?

EDIT: correction, the incident apparently took place on the way out of the Malmaison hotel, so not even anywhere near proper town. Bellend.

That's a pretty big leap, all I was saying is that at the time he was a coup, they were a team outside of the champions league signing one of the better wingers on the planet, albeit for a massive price. Obviously it all went south because Di Maria gave up after 2 months, but you can't apply retrospect to change the sentiment at the time.

I think that was pretty much everyone on this forum when he signed, "Swagatelli" and "Baller" and all that rubbish. Of course everyone will deny being in that camp now.

I wasn't here at the time, but given I know this Forum and its contributors better than most, I find that VERY hard to believe.
