He's good isn't he? I expected more goals and asissts by now but hopefully they'll come. He seems to be playing within himself at times, especially early on in the season but he's really showing his class on the ball at times lately. He's just a good player. Simple as that.

He probably had more freedom in that Newcastle side to make forward runs. He is taking up different positions for us.

Really liked the kid tonight.

Great range of passing and works his bollocks off. Keeps the side ticking and does a brilliant defensiv job aswell.
More to come in terms of goals but a great signing.

A Like for the title - ha !

Your last paragraph is the reason he's not getting as many opportunities. Key player for us now.

Who's our forum chief song writers? Can ye make a song out of Genie in a bottle please.

I'm a Gini Wiynaldum
You gotta come watch me play

He was my Mom tonight, as I said in the match thread.

I've had 9 pints and half a bottle of red wine though. And I've checked this post for spelling mistakes and o can't see any.

If that prick mystic calls him Ginny the poo again though, I'm gonna twat the cunt next time he's up here.

I said in the match thread that he is the one Orchestrates the midfield movement and sets the pace - initially for the first few games of the season like an immature brat I thought what the fuck ? £25M for him ? - but the realization dawned on me before the Man United game when he was unavailable I put my forecast down to a draw or a loss at home against them because Gini had an injury and was not going to play in the game.

He does what Lalana does but when he does it in tight spaces - you get the feeling he is much more cooler under pressure and never rushes. I see him as a light touch Pirlo in terms of vision and passing but physically stronger and able. I think his lack of goals is mainly due to his positioning which is more due to the positions he is expected to play rather than a lack of ability or any shortcoming. If he is instructed to get more in the penalty box I am sure the goals will start to flow more.

I'm going to have to watch this guy more closely in the next game because I don't see it myself. Admittedly, I'm no football guru so it's not exactly clear what I'm watching for, or even if I'll notice it as I'm looking for it, but he strikes me as fairly anonymous most of the time. Perhaps that's the criterion.

I think today was a milestone game for him in that he showed he can play his own game without full support from the likes of Lallana and Coutinho.

The word I use most often in association with him is 'fulcrum' which seems to be entirely descriptive of his positioning and distribution skills, he's effectively destructive too. A less attacking version of Lallana in some ways. Wijnaldum slightly deeper central & left and Lallana slightly further forward right.

The heat and passing maps are illuminating, most often showing how much of play both central and left goes through Gini (@King Binny anything there mate ?). I see him as a critical linchpin for the attack.

Now that Peidro is sober and I've gained some courage I can make the comment I was going to make last night that he was definitely more Gini in a bottle than Wijni the Pooh last night.

Joking aside though, I really like the guy, he's quietly efficient, he's our metronome. Only criticism i'd have of him is that he seems to snatch at chances on goal, be that a shot outside the box or when through on goal, if he was a little more composed he'd have a few more goals.

I think he is a truly wonderful footballer. I know Mane is rightly drawing most of the attention when it comes to signing of the Season but this lad for me comes closer by the week. And Matip upthere as well.

We have done tremendously well on the market for once.

Klopp & Co. have had an excellent last transfer window. Let's not forget Klavan, brought in ostensibly as our #4 CB and has played a vital bit part.

He can slow the game down.

It's actually hard to find a player who can do that, they're pretty rare.

Molby, Alonso, & Didi are all players who could do that & it helped us deal with teams who tried to force us to play their game at their pace.

Sadly he was the only player in the middle of the pitch who did it in the first half (Lovren did too but he is a defender!), had Henderson done it instead of blindly playing the ball everytine he was closed down we could have got a real grip of the game much earlier.

I'm still trying to figure out why we sold Joe Allen and bought this guy in at double the price. I thought the reasoning was an increased goal return but Allen has scored way more than Wijnaldum this year. Don't get me wrong Gini has been good for us in a neat and tidy way but I expected more for £25M.

More than 2nd place at Xmas - a major contribution to which has come from Gini ? 🙂

He's contributed. He's played well, keeps the ball brilliantly and provides balance but for the price paid be should be more productive in terms of what goals and assists, which especially when Coutinho is out. We've seen he was capable of it at Newcastle and that's why the signing excited me. He's playing a new role here but that doesn't explain why his shooting has been so poor.

Hopefully there's more to come.

96 % pass accuracy last night. That is impressive. He's quietly and efficiently doing a fantastic job for us.

I hear ya. I was bit surprised with the figure we paid for him too but I presumed it was because we wanted to upgrade Allen with a more physical, athletic player who has an eye for goal. Sadly the goals haven't come yet but I'll give him a pass for his all round game.

Needs more goals. For a free flowing team his shooting is appaling. Even Can has has shown more of goal threat.
