Ha, sorry... I'm a miserable fucker.

Anyways, I like Jota. When fit and on form, he's a great asset but I still have one foot in the saleable asset camp and the reason for that is his injury record.

Me too. Really like him. But willing to sell for a high valuation. We have to be able to do that, much as it hurts to see players you like leave.

Jan signing who hadn’t scored a goal in his first 7 games is now 4th top goalscorer for us after Salah, Nunez and Firmino.

Highlights how piss poor the rest of the squad has been at contributing goals this season.

Thank Allah for Salah!

Lijnders will be vindicated if he continues to develop in this role as Bobby's successor
Maybe maybe not. No point developing him in that role if everything falls apart around it and we don’t end up competitive.
Was it a position that needed addressing Jan say over CM? Hard to say.

I'm referring to the recommendation of player part since the midfield issue(s) shouldn't have been left till Jan or this year to address, in the first place. 😉

Aha!! If get top 4 I still wouldn’t agree. A great CM and we could have won the CL, FA Cup and got 3rd.

Best case scenario now would be 4th and it’s extremely unlikely.

I thought you were referring to the fact many didn’t think Gakpo could play the Firmino role. After 7 games many has written him off centrally at least.

CM reinforcement would have be ideal but we left ourselves with too much to do due to our inactivity/passiveness over the past windows - also, there were many other issues in the team/with the players too.

Looking at the bright side, if Gakpo can nail this role, then we would have got a bargain (might have gone to a rival/another team; might have cost more if he kept up with his form at PSV etc).

Regarding the Firmino role, it was quite clear that's the plan for Gakpo - although one might wonder where that leaves Nunez (and/or Diaz & Jota).

The bench… where, at least in Nunez case, there’s less chance of him being caught offside.

I think there’s enough games to rotate them all.

Gakpo, Nunez & Jota can all play left & centre depending on how we want to vary tactics.

Diaz will offer more width to stretch defences, while Nunez & Jota come inside and drop into the space Gakpo will create by dropping deep.

Nunez will play a higher line than Gakpo in the middle.

Diaz can also play on the right and cover for Mo.

It’ll be good to have options from the bench to change things again.

Diaz has played 2 games on the right in about 6 years prior to his 10 min cameo the other day. If he is going to be an option there I'm guessing Klopp will try that in pre season.

Well… we have no-one else to fill in there for f Mo doesn’t play.

Didn’t Mane start on the right, make his name on the left and end up in the centre for us?

Mane moving to the left made sense given the ability to cut inside. Not sure how effective Diaz would be on the right. But its certainly something to try.

He did have a slow start, which isn't unusual for January signings trying to come to to terms with the pace of the PL. It seemed to click for him against Utd and he's looked much better since then.
If you look at the numbers since he joined in Jan

Salah - 9
Gakpo - 6
Jota - 4
Nunez - 4
Firmino - 2
Diaz - 0

It's clear he's done well in a relatively short time and he's improving all the time. Firmino and Nunez have faded badly as the season wore on and Diaz never really got going at all.

The problem with how we're playing at the moment is in attack we're quite 1 dimensional. Gakpo can set people away all he likes but we know the following ; 1) Salah won't beat a man, or 2) Jota will inevitably come central.

Jota needs dropping for Diaz, or he needs to be central. Workrate smerkrate, we're easy to close down and simple. Diaz (and even Nunez) is better at getting to the touchline and then working back across goal than Jota is

Jota’s press cannot be underestimated. He’s phenomenal at it and helps up tick.

Absolutely agree, his press is great, and it's that quick turnover that can allow us to score.

My issue is when we have the ball he's nowhere near what we need

No better in the press what I’ve seen to Diaz or Nunez tbh

Salah Nunez/Gakpo Diaz next game.

Jota was really poor yesterday and his passing sucks.
LOLZ! Neither can press like Jota. Nunez is wank and you need to get his cock out of your mouth.

Jota covering the shite our geriatric midfielders should be doing and without him we would’ve lost yesterday

Gakpo picks the ball up as deep as the halfway line, Bobby would press higher up the pitch. We add a solid MF next season, even if it is only 2 MFs we will be title contenders.

Gakpo is ace. He scores. Links up. Works hard. Rarely gives the ball away. And he’s only just arrived.
Bargain

he’s got a deft touch too. Look at the little touch he takes just before striking the ball before the goal. Quality

Jota almost cost us last night with his shit finishing and shit passing, thankfully Bowen was offside or I was coming down hard on him like a tonne of bricks.

Nunez is far more of a threat than Jota, this isn't up for discussion.

Nunez is so much a threat he can’t get in the side.
Well we know why he's not in the side, Klopp has said it half a dozen times already...we don't need to beat round the bush on that 1.

What threat was Jota before Leeds when he scored 0 goals? Scored more goals than Gakpo as well but it's clear Klopp wants to replicate with him what we had with Bobby, then it makes sense.

How do you even know how Jota played? You said you were gonna pull the head off it watching Shitty play the arse?

Back to Jota. He wasn’t the worst of our forwards yesterday. He also wasn’t the best. However, he was more of a threat than Mo. His passing was poor but not as bad as Mo’s. But he’s getting a free ride today.

Jota’s press and defensive display covered up the poor midfield we had. Gave more protection to Robbo. Otherwise we’d have been overrun in that part of the pitch and lost.

Then there is Nunez. The stupid cunt can’t even be arsed to learn the language. He’s a stupid mong which is a mongy signing made by other mongs.
