I was thinking about it earlier that if our current XI continue their run of form...fitting Sturridge and Stevie in would be a big problem.
So I'd like to know what's everyone's favoured line up considering no one has a sudden drop of form.

Mine would be 4-4-2 mainly because I think that the last thing that should be compromised to fit other players in other formations is the 2 strikers partnership..I think it should be the first two names on the team sheet.
So my best 11 is -
---------------Mignolet
Johnson--Skrtel---Sakho---Enrique
----------Hendo---Lucas
Stevie---------------------Couthino
----------Studge--Suarez
Of course I would like to fit Allen and Sterling and Stevie in the middle there somehow but I think that considering you have 2 strikers it's difficult to modify this and dropping Hendo or Lucas is a mistake since we need the cover and the energy they provide.
So what do you say?

The benefit of a fit squad is that we can play different players to best set up against different sides.

Stevie and Sturridge have to force their way back into the team at present though after potential fuckups vs City and Chelsea everyone might think differently

The downside is the more genuine options a manager has the more mistakes he can make.

I think Sturridge and gerrard out has been a blessing.

It's not been a blessing, it's forced others to step up to the plate, so it's been interesting in that sense, Allen and Sterling have done well while Henderson has tried to bridge the difference too. Stevie has still had a hand in a fair number of goals this season, so he's got more than a part to play, what it has given us is the assurance that we can get by without some of our bigger names, so perhaps the squad isn't quite as dire as people like to make out.

I actually think Countinho has made a huge difference without scoring goals.

He has, it's been an accumulation of things, but I wouldn't say losing them was a blessing. Sturridge was clearly carrying a knock for a while, but he's saved our arses on several occasions this season and will do again, he's top quality. At least we now, at the moment, have a very good starting XI, with two top class players on their way back and the January transfer window just over a week away.

It's as much about form and fitness as anything though, let's be honest, we don't chop and change that much, we play the same XI most of the time and stick with it until someone gets injured/banned or hits poor form.

we weren't with a fully fit squad though which is what this thread is about right?

We didn't have any other wanted options

There were options. But that's not the point - often managers do keep the same 11 or near enough the same 11 regardless of opposition.

Often but not always.
I have a feeling we'll see some changes in the lineup to citeh. Rodgers will probably change formation for that game.

-------------Mignolet----------------
Johnson Skrtel Sakho Enrique
------------Lucas/Allen------------
------Henderson Gerrard--------
Sturridge---------------Coutinho
--------------Suarez---------------

suarez finds himself all over the pitch so it isn't like sturridge will be playing out of position; it's all very interchangeable up top

edit: good options on the bench too - sterling, aspas, moses, alberto, allen, agger, kelly, flanagan, toure

At the moment i'd say
Mignolet
Flanagan Skrtel Sakho Enrique
Sterling Allen Henderson Coutinho
Sturridge Suarez

I think the current lineup should stay and returning players justify their inclusion over current incumbents.

I certainly wouldn't be moving Suarez from his central role & we are I'll equipped to play 442.

Steve Gerrard will not be playing on the right side of midfield either.

I'm glad I'm not the boss, I have no idea how to fit all the players into the team once Gerrard and Sturridge are break. If it ain't broke don't fix it i suppose, so they can stay out until it stops working.

When Gerrard comes back, I'd interchange him with Coutinho.

Sturridge can come on for Suarez whenever we're 3 goals up or he needs a rest.

The midfield balance has been superb with Lucas, Hendo and Allen. Gerrard seems obsessed with being some deep lying playmaker but you can't have that with Lucas in there too.

Oh, a 'whats our best starting 11' thread.

What a marvellous idea to show off what a moronic fucklord you are.

Koo. Dos.
Can't believe it took you this many replies to get in.

What do you make us picking the same team with the exact same formation and tactics in two completely different types of games?

"I make" injuries, form, tactics, opposition, and a bunch of other variables which come into play every week of every season.

Just like "I make" every other time this fucking absurd discussion comes up.

I know you do so you think we should set up tactically and formation wise exactly the same way away to Spurs then at home to Cardiff?

Of course injuries are a given, but I still there is a place in the modern game for not changing a winning side who are high on confidence.

Couple this with the fact we don't need as much if any squad rotation this season with the lack of European games I can see why Rodgers might stick with the same team again on St Steve's day.
