Four New Players in Red

Personally I believe the signing of Ince would be a rather shrewd one.

He has seemingly developed nicely, scored a lot of goal and would be a perfect foil for our current crop of young, talented wingers. Think we'll be in for him or someone similar in terms of style. Perhaps that Lazar lad.

Yeah but he's a 22 year old winger the paid good money for.

They'd probably want Eriksen money for him.

I don't think so. They sold Johnson for a reasonable fee and he did far more for them than Sinclair has or probably ever will.

They will need a big clear out in order to buy new players in the summer and I don't think Sinclair will be too much of a concern one way or the other.

How dare you.

He was great with his head.. but always had a mistake in him at times...

Sometimes though he looked solid...!!

I reckon he was a good signing. For sure he wasn't the best CB we've ever had, but he was cheap and, considering he was only ever intended to be a stopgap, IMO he was decent value overall.

Wanyama £10m
Jonathon Williams (Palace....Sneijder type of midfielder) £8m
Ince £2m (estimate as a "signing on" fee)

I know I'm hugely outnumbered but I believe we don't need a CB, we have Agger, Skrtel, Wisdom & Kelly which IMO is a decent quartet given the right protection from midfield.

McLaughlin & Teixera promoted to the 1st team squad.

If we can somehow raise an extra £20m by selling Carroll, Spearing, N'Goo, Coates and maybe Borini I'd love us to splurge on a £20m centre forward to give Sturridge* competition.

*Also I'm not convinced Sturridge is good enough for us to make a sustained assault on a top 4 position.

I'd be ecstatic with the 1st 3 - would rather we spent the 5-6 million on Ince on some talented yoofs ... His game time can be Sterling's.

After the Sturridge and Coutinho purchases and seeing how he developed Sterling, I'm starting to trust Rodgers' taste in attackers. If he sees something in Ince, there is good chance he is right.

I'd agree, but he's also spent 13m on Borini and Assaidi who have had little or no effect. Still a 50% hit rate is a lot better than we're used to.

No chance on both IMO. Reus just moved to Dortmund (his hometown) and is doing great - why would he even consider moving elsewhere? And Isco is the hottest name on every rich club's summer shopping list, we simply can't compete. It's like Hazard last year. We need to go at players who are either very young or somewhat under the radar - it's still very much possible to acquire world class talent this way. Alonso, Torres, Suarez were all reasonably in demand, but not at the top of everybody's list when we got them.

Yeah it's all pie in the sky like 99% of the names mentioned in this thread.

We basically have to polish rough stones into diamonds like Porto,Napoli,Dortmund and the likes have done.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I'd have thought with Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Borini, Suso and Downing (and I expect Teixeira and Ibe to come into the equation) we are looking OK up front. Maybe one forward player if we sell (and praying the departure not be Suarez), but cannot see any more. With Carragher retiring, Coates untrusted and Agger/Skrtel shaky I think our priority is for 2 CBs, at least one of them a standout (and hopefully neither of them called Williams). I think Skrtel and Coates will probably leave and expect us to use Wisdom/Kelly as potential cover. I'd also expect a DM - thought I read Iturra of Malaga was on his way - not an exciting signing, but perhaps a practical one. Possibly a goalkeeper too.
