For those saying that Kenny deserves another year

Football's a very emotional game.
I just hating seeing players going through the motions and looking like they'd rather be sat at home with their feet up.
It's hard to accept.
Your arguments become more effective if you don't resort to swearing or being abusive.

I agree that the subs were a bit confusing today, but I'm still behind Kenny. I just can't believe a team with that much potential talent can play week-in, week-out and it's solely due to the manager. I can't.

Maybe Carroll's attitude should have been dealt with in a better manner (although I don't understand why he isn't played more consistently after good outings), Suarez's whole Evra scandal could have been dealt with in a way better fitting the club, and I believe JC should be sitting on the bench while the future (Coates) gets a chance to cut his teeth. However, I just can't see the rest of the team, who played incredibly well in a squad post-Hodgson second half of last year, giving up like they have because of Kenny and his managing style.

Instead, I think it's a combination of:

1) Injuries and suspensions (Gerrard, Agger, Lucas, Suarez, etc.).

2) Luck (hitting the post more times than any other club (bar Man City) and missing countless penalties (is this our worst year for taking them?)).

3) Players playing below expectations or being held against the ridiculous values that were paid for them (Downing wasn't expected to be this god awful for so long - and Adam is just a waste, Henderson and Carroll fit here for their transfer values... and yes, I still think Carroll will come good... it's just hard to watch him some days).

Sorry - I just don't buy it.

Any manager would have struggled with odds as unsurmountable as these. Not to mention a big F-you from the universe with the number of unlucky calls, posts being hit and keepers who on game day become the embodiment of Iker Casillas.

You guys can lambaste me for my points, but I still think he deserves a season to prove what he can do.
You're just scratching the surface with those points.
Regarding the "hitting posts" bit, Man city are just behind us in that stat. Remind me, how many goals have they scored?

A day like today summons a lot of things. Chavs given a victory while we are denied by posts. I am glad it happens to us, cause we have the back and integrity to carry it.

So Your angre cause the Saudis bought a team we can't afford? Tough luck mate. We have to work on what we got.... city will end up trophyless after the worst splashing of cash ever.... Your constant sulking doesn't suit you at all. Grow some balls man.

I think you're missing the point.

He hasn't corrected playing one up front at home. He hasn't corrected the weird decision to take off Downing (arguably our best crosser after Stevie) every time he brings Carroll on.

This thing of taking Downing off when he brings Carroll on is a mystery to me as well

So if he wins 2 cups, and finishes 7th - should we fire him? If next year, Alan Pardew (or another manager) gets us to 5th place with no silverware, should we fire him too he looks more 'in tune'?

Based on our league performances this season, I don't see enough evidence to suggest Kenny is the right man.

I was born in 1970, started going to the game regularly from '83 and I have doubts about Kenny. I did have when he was first appointed manager.

Anybody else find one of these statements dubious at best?😉

And if the next manager doesn't provide you evidence either, fire him after a year? Was there any evidence last year when he replaced Roy?

Well, it is very important. Afterall, if you're not seeing encouraging signs then how can you be hopeful of seeing a successful team in the future?

There was plenty of evidence when Kenny came in last season. He raised spirits, got us working well as a team and adopted an effective and productive formation(4-2-3-1). We had the right personnel to carry it out.

This season though, we haven't kicked on and after hefty investment in the summer, you have to question Kenny's judgment. It's the lack of game plan and confusion amongst players that worries me.

I understand people want stability and don't want us to turn into Chelsea in terms of chopping and changing after the first sign of trouble, but at the same time, if it's clearly not working then you have to look at a new manager(and players too obviously).

I think we had some excellent performances in the 1st half - and were bloody unlucky (poor finishing, supermen goalies, posts - whatever) not to win most of our home games this year. I don't know what it is tbh - but I saw enough to believe he can do it. I will keep that faith for the time being.

The league cup semi at City did it for me. Sticking Johnson at centre half, the players not knowing where they were supposed to be playing, Gerrard giving the instructions as to who should play where.

Just saying....might sound a bit better than 4 different managers in 4 years. Some are too hung up on that.

How did Rafa do with Inter? That inspires you with confidence? Remind me what kind of team Mourinho left him with?

I don't really think the 'hung up on it' remark is accurate. It's just not something any of us are used to at Liverpool, we thought we were different. But since things are a changing I guess you may be right. Oh well ...

Im not gonna try to defend his time at Inter, mainly cause I don't know too much about it. All I know is that he got sacked after 6 months.

Our team never looked clueless with him in charge though and I never felt so low as I feel now during his stint.
Benitez for me is the safe bet.
Löw the back up.
I want a manager that might attract top players. I still think Benitez can.

our team never looked clueless? yeah ok.

Look into what he did to a team that just came off the greatest season in their rather illustrious history ... and tell me why on earth you're so confident that he's a 'safe bet'.
