Footy soft spots

Fulham for me, strictly on the basis of seeing my first Premiership game at Craven Cottage (against Villa) about 10 years ago. Was a great night, good game and I wish them well in general since.

I used to have a bit of a thing for Spurs when Klinsmann was there, well more of a bit of a thing for Klinsmann, he was exactly what we needed, then the same with Bergkamp for Arsenal, but I always had a thing for Spurs when they were inoffensive and non-threatening. I hate them now though.

The whole hating Nottm Forest thing... I don't get it? I think it's been explained to me before on here, but I've forgotten it. Is it just because they were good once?

I don't "support" anybody else, but I always want Valencia to do well.

And I don't *hate* Everton. I dislike them, but there's plenty of other teams I dislike more.

*runs*

I think it was because of Clough and his utter and outspoken belief that Hillsborough was all the LFC fans fault. I might be wrong though. As a club they've never bothered me.

Wait, that doesn't make any sense, ignore last! Don't think you could have more than 1 team from a league in it at that point.

Forest won the 1979 European Cup while knocking Liverpool out in the process. The next season Forest repeated its European Cup success. Liverpool won the two European Cups preceding Forest’s success and the European Cup just afterwards (1977,1978,1981).

This man, he know. And they cheated us out of league cup in 1978 when they were awarded a penalty for a foul outside the box. And Clough was a Hillsborough denying drunkard.

That's more than enough to fucking despise them, but for the final cherry on the top, Martin O'neill played for them.

Norwich, big fan of Norwich, I go through seasonal soft spots as well, Southampton is that soft spot at the moment, I used to have a soft spot for Bolton about 10 years ago too, oh and Colchester in the lower leagues.

Tbh, I've always liked City aswell, out of all the top sides these days, they're still the one I'd rather see win the title, than anyone else. I think they're pretty gracious as a club, despite the money spent, there's none of the arrogance you see from United and Chelsea.

I'd like to see Norwich stay up cos their my mum's team & I have a soft spot for her.

Plus I fucking love watching Suarez destroy them. Their defenders must see his name on the team sheet & want to curl up into a ball & cry.

Fulham and Newcastle make me laugh and because of that I'd prefer them to stay in the league, but I wouldn't go far as to say I had a soft spot for them.

I haven't got a soft spot for any English club. They can all get fucked.

I did used to go and watch Everton in the 80s because my best mate was a blue and there was nothing else to do.

As for other countries' clubs it would be Celtic, Juventus, Panathanaikos and Barcelona.

Celtic because it was the first kit my mum and dad bought me as a kid, Juventus because I loved replicating their hard tackling defender Gentile on the playground, Panathanaikos because their fans were boss when we played them in the European Cup, gave me loads of banners and sun hats and Barcelona because I think they are very Scouse like, hate the 'system' and see themselves as independent.

I've got a huge soft spot for Manchester United. I'm also partial to Chelsea and the admirable way they do business. Don't even get me started on my love for Everton.

You fucking nutters 😉

I'm not passionate about other teams. Of course I do enjoy watching a good game of football and I do support the occasional underdog but other than that I don't have any real loyalty to any team but Liverpool.

I've got a lot of love to share, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I have quite a few soft spots.

WBA
City
Everton
Barcodes
Spurs
Chelsea
Stoke
Sunderland
Swansea

I have to say I felt a tiny bit sorry for Arsene "I didn't see it " Wenger after the fall he took and after Mourinho branded him a specialist in failure.

First one because he really was having a shitty day..

Second is just be cause it was a totally classless statement.

Mourinho can never do what Arsene did in the last ten years. His ego is too big to accept securing clubs future and financial safety in the long term over having a gazillion dollar squad at his disposal. He is just not even good enough to lick Wenger's boot in that regard. Arsenal fans and owners will be forever thankful for the impeccable job he did steering the club through a tough period. They need to push on now, and I'm sure Arsene is more than capable....still don't like him though. But the longer he goes without a trophy, the more I'm beginning to change my view.

Having a soft spot for another team doesn't mean you are passionate or have any genuine feelings for them or whatever else.

It really boils down to not minding them doing well for whatever reasons, you are living/or have lived in the area, family member or mate supports them, if the team is shit/doing shit, oh well, it doesn't matter.
