On the other hand, if he's mentally frail or thin-skinned, the jeers could actually hit a nerve and affect his performance, like make him over-anxious, or fuck with his mind and cause him to shoot wide a couple of times with an open goal. 🙂
I honestly think it's this way round, you could tell it had got too him, hardly surprising considering he's about 9 years old.

We have 3 players in the top 10 on that list which I like.

I first thought the same thing. But if you look at our season I guess you can surmise that stat means something a hair north of nothing.

Especially in the regard of how many players you have in the top 10. I think the fact we have three in there really demonstrates the weakness of our attack. When you count goals and assists as one "total" and then give any credence to how many players you have in the top 10, it counts some of the goals or assists twice. How many of Firmino's assists were to Lallana or Miller? How many of his goals were assisted by one of the two?

It shows that we only have a small contingent of fit and capable offensive players and they have scored or assisted the large majority of our paltry goal tally amongst themselves.

Sterling is genuinely difficult to rate. Hes one of the worst decision makers Ive ever seen which makes him a completely unreliable finisher. On the other hand hes very quick, freakishly strong for his size and he keeps getting himself into great positions. Im not sure why but you watch Sterling play and then watch Ibe and you think Ibe has all the same tools in his locker but for some reason he doesnt put them together the way Sterling does.
I'm not sure at all that I agree with this assessment (though spot on Sterling vs Ibe).

Firmino is different in that hes obviously a very skillful creative player. I dont think hes nearly as quick but he knows what he wants to do as soon as he gets on the ball and that buys him a split second that indecisive players like Raheem and Benteke lack. The problem for Firmino is that he can easily drift through games on the periphery and make no impact.
I actually think that is arse about tit. Sterling is the one who can drift out of games and have little to no impact at all. On the other hand Firmino's work-rate, closing down and tackling means that even when his creative, attacking, play is off kilter he is never irrelevant.

Right now Sterling is probably the better player but hes conditioned for premier league football from a young age its 2nd nature now. Firmino needs to impose himself more on games and demand the ball feom his teammates. If he can learn to better cope with the physical demands there is no reason why he cant be very succesful.
The German BL is just as physical as the PL. I don't think I've seen any match in which Firmino has been bullied or otherwise unable to handle the physical demands. His main issue has been consistency as the flashes of brilliance/technique/vision have been there from Day 1, and that has more to do, IMO, with settling into a new country, city, club, team, formation and adjusting to different on-pitch responsibilities than in Germany.

It also risks firing him up to do well against us. Far better just to let the little turd fade into the background where he belongs.
Well it wasn't that way on Wednesday ! Whether it was being Flanno-ed, or a combination of crowd harassment and Flanno, it led to him being subbed off for a completely undistinguished performance 😀

Isn't it a very selective list? Where is Mahrez?

Perfectly fair comment and my reply is undoubtedly a guess, but that guess would be that what we saw on Weds.was mainly due to Flanno's earth remover tackling. Whatever Sterling's footballing gifts, he's an immature little oaf and I have difficulty seeing him as someone who'd give one shiny sh!te, let alone two, about what our fans think of him. At the same time he's physically powerful for his size and not used to being strongarmed, but he was from the first minute thanks to Flanno and I reckon that's a good deal more likely as an explanation for his display.

Adam Lallana is in the Top 10!

Sterling is most effective through the middle. I can't see pep playing him there so I can see him being a flop under Pep.

When he was leaving, it was all like "he's going to rot on their bench" and "Ibe is way better anyway". That didn't hasn't quite panned out - not yet anyways - and now it's "he's shit and has failed".

I enjoy listening to City fans moan about Sterling (I've got one friend that haaates him and think he's the worst player on their team) and can go OTT in that setting but on here, who are we trying to kid?

I'd take him back in a heartbeat. It's just bitterness because a good player wanted to play for another club in this country

Based on how we were last season I would have left too

The point of the list is obviously the calendar year 2016 so far and not the entire season.

I posted it because it shows the positive development Firmino has had, seeing as some were happy to slate him after 1 month while others found it logical that he would need some time to adapt.

He's been pretty boss so far in 2016. Long may it continue.
Vardy has struggled to score, same with Giroud and Kane hasnt scored that many either (and he is disqualified for being a openmouth talk like a foghorn mong aswell obviously).

That or he's a purple patch player

But Vardy, Kane and Giroud are all better strikers than Firmino if you look at this season as a whole. Kane is a better striker no matter how you look at it. They will all end up scoring at least twice as many goals as Firmino this season. Possibly more

Of course they will and yes they are, but that wasnt the point. I just explained why they werent on that list for 2016.
Firmino isnt an out and out striker either.

Think we'll have to go by season to season from now on, its to much for people to handle otherwise.

People laying into Hansern like he made the chart himself. In a way it is useful but I think we all know that RF is in good form at the moment. Its great to see that he is settling and thriving in the squad.

Firmino's improvement is the main reason we're winning these matches and with a bit of luck could be looking at top four. It's great. Carra said it best yesterday... He's coming up with the goals and the assists without looking like he is. It doesn't seem like he's up too much and then boom. Much rather that than looking all silky and then nowt.

It's fantastic how he's pushed on under Klopp, as has been mentioned, it is very strange how he's been so productive whilst looking nonplussed, this isn't a criticism of him, but I think it's why so many jumped on his back so quickly, many thought he wasn't trying / didn't care, that couldn't have been further from the truth, he's probably one of our hardest grafters. Sure he goes missing sometimes in matches, but in general we seem to play better when he's on the pitch than when he's not, he shits end product, and he offers a cool and classy composure which only really Sturridge can match, I love him (excluding god awful Tattoos).

Is it maybe 2016 so far or something totally pointless like that? I dunno, whatever it is, it's totally shit
It is for 2016 which is why those other players you listed aren't on it. It's also not totally worthless because it shows current form, same as listing a club's last six matches as the bookies, Sky, BBC etc. do.

At the end of the day, re Sterling, he hasn't hit the heights he could have done at City. Many expected him to leave our struggling side and push on to the levels he was looking to reach two years ago. He hasn't, so people who were concerned about him being a thorn in our side, have a right to feel relieved it hasn't really happened for him. Just like those who were a bit more dismissive about his abilities might feel their initial opinions of him were in someway right.

Of course he's a huge potential talent, but for £50m City haven't done that great out of the deal yet and with their management changing hands, it could now go either way for Sterling. No one is trying to kid anyone, I think most people are just happy he's had a fairly ropy season, as many of us said when he left, you have to have the mentality and people around you to help you progress to the next level. Sterling seems to have neither at the moment.

Klopp knew where to play him from the first moment. Rodgers was sticking him out on the right side of attack which isn't his position at all.
