Klopp knew where to play him from the first moment. Rodgers was sticking him out on the right side of attack which isn't his position at all.

What would you say was his best position? Arguably he's best down the middle, but I certainly think he was better on the right than he ever has been on the left. In fact I reckon his iffy form for both Citeh and England is partly to do with him being stuck out there on his wrong side.

I think Johnny was talking about Firmino.

Was talking about Firmino mate.

But on Sterling, I think the reason he's played on the left is that managers want him to be cutting inside onto his strong foot. Played on the right he could just become a standard winger like Wright Phillips or Lennon. But I do think he is best down the middle.

I'm sure that is why they do it, but I don't agree with it. Part of what I want a wide player to do is lay things on for others, which is far easier for them to do on their "correct" wing. If they're tricky enough they can also get themselves into shooting positions for their strong foot quite easily from there. If they aren't tricky enough, playing them on the left isn't going to help anyway, 'coz then they're coming infield where play is more crowded.
