I thought it was a joke but post after post of Everton fans wanting Benitez? Hahahaha

I honestly don't. I like having them in the league, yet never capable of winning anything or actually making an impact. I love the hope they all get at the start of every season, the belief that they're gonna finally come good & win something, only for history to repeat itself over & over...
If one simply sat down and made an attempt at an objective list of pros and cons then yes, there'd be quite a bit to commend the move. What's more, Rafa's the kind of person whom one might expect to go about making a big decision in such a way.
Having said that, I don't believe he'll go there in a thousand years. For all his cold, hard logic Rafa also has a highly emotional side - witness for example his tears at the Hillsborough commemoration - and my bet is he remains too attached to LFC to contemplate this.
They won't with Rafa in charge. It would be quite sentimental to have managed both clubs in Liverpool. A real connection to the city. I wouldn't really mind as long as they stay kind of shit and we win the league.

Tbh, Everton's idiotic decision to give this Brands fella so much power (a seat on the board, for an ex scout?!) is what would put Rafa off, not the fact it's Everton, imo, cos he thinks analytically, not emotionally, but has worked under a man like that before under Hicks & Gillett & will not want to do that again.
IF rafa went to everton, which offered he I think he would probably take, would he still get the love in he gets from our fans. Or would it be an Michael Owen mark 2
Yep. Which is boss for us, cos I'm convinced he'd take the job otherwise, & for the myriad of reasons I outlined, I think he's be relatively successful. Long term it'd be a poisoned chalice of course, both because of his history here & cos the bitters are too stupid to realise that playing very well organised defensive counter attacking football isn't 'boring', but necessary to create a platform for success.I think it would put Brands off appointing him, for the same reasons. He'd be squarely in Benitez's crosshairs within about 10 seconds.
Well, Owen was never really loved by many to begin with, even if Benitez also splits some fans.....but if he managed Everton of course it would have some impact on our affection for him, but it's hard to speak for everyone. Some don't like him at all now!
His time at Chelsea has been whitewashed from many peoples memory.
I wonder how well Moyes would do going back there. Howard Kendall went back not once but twice and it didn't work out either time. At least if Ferguson got the gig no opposition manager would ever kick up a fuss in the technical area. Considering where they find themselves now, they might even settle for that.
