I'm thinking everyone's attitude to this tournament has surely changed in the last couple of weeks?

It is likely our only chance of claiming a champions league spot? And I for one would much rather have this to focus on than say the FA cup. There are still plenty of good teams left in it, and this trophy would certainly entice young foreign players more than a league cup.

Now the real reason for me creating this thread...Say a team were to face Dortmund in the final, who will surely qualify for the CL in their own league, will the qualifying spot for the winner be passed down the runner up?

Apologies if this has been answered before, and I've tried phrase the question as to minimize the jinx factor...

Either way, I still feel it's a better prospect for attracting some young stars...without trying to sound too Adam Johnson about it.

However, I doubt we'll be winning much if we can't sort this back line out before we face anyone half decent...

Following on from this, over at the guardian, they're reporting the premier league are considering rewarding teams with more cash out of the television rights for progressing. Ideally to get teams to take it more seriously, and avoid the league losing the 4th qualifying spot

Too damn late. We're going to lose that spot for sure over the next 2-3 seasons. We'l likely win it back again sometime in the following 2-3 seasons but then, unless PL teams up their game, it's going to be a shoot-out each year (BL, PL and the Scudetto) with no guarantees.

I think we'll be okay. Juve have had a good run with last years champions league, they'll probably go out this round, which I'm thinking will only leave Lazio??

But I think it will help...hopefully we don't gotta deal with it much longer.

This should always have been a priority once fourth looked unlikely.

The fact it's that 1st time we'll ever play Utd in Europe and certainly knocked it up a notch. Cannot wait
