Euro 2016 Final - Sunday 10th July

Chuffed for Portugal and for Ronaldo.

Theres something refreshing about a drab, cynical, boring, defensive team winning it all.
I kinda like that for all the Zlatans, and Payets and Ronaldos and Mullers, its good old negative tactics and a well drilled unit that wins it. Get in your Lambos and fuck off, all the flicks in the fucking world and you cant beat 2 banks of 4.

Get the fuck out with that first sentence. Ronaldo had nothing to do with it today. Bunch of cunts beat a different bunch of cunts where the favored bunch of cunts couldn't score in a whorehouse with a gold Mastercard.

Meh.

Happy for Portugal and even more so for the players to do it without Ronaldo.

Didn't lose a game.

New rules allowed them the chance and they grabbed it.

Sneak in through qualifiers and then finish 3rd and still progress.

Well what an awful start to the morning to wake up and see this result. Can't understand why, on a Sunday, it should kick off at 20.00 (03.00 in the morning here) thereby alienating billions of potential TV viewers in Asia either. Insane decision.

Anyways all I could think of when contemplating this match was two teams of poseurs, standing around preening and posing .... and that brought to mind the Monty Python Philosophers' match :

Haha! Fucking right. That slimy twat Ronaldo has been the very epitome of cuntishness this whole tournament. He might well be the best player that has ever played the game - He's still a massive bellend.

@gkmacca - Pointed it out earlier. There was something so contrived about his behaviour during the night. Happy for the fella who scored though. That was a boss goal.

I must say Sissoko was very impressive in this game and he's had a good tournament in general. Anybody wants LFC to sign him now?

No, we've all seen his performances for Newcastle these last few years.
He'll probably get a decent move after this tournament mind.

Someone made a point earlier that he would be more motivated playing with better players. Is that the sort of player we want? Selective motivation?

Nope. If you read Newcastle fan's opinion, highly inconsistent and plays well when he feels like it. The last thing this squad needs is another inconsistent player.

Just tuned into this one. Watching a barrel full of cunts is not my idea of a fun Sunday night. I take it all back though for the moth and the tears! Fucking awesome stuff. Also I'm loving @tombrown in this thread! Pretty much echos my own thoughts about this hateful bunch 😀
Sorry - I had fallen asleep by the time you posted this

Oh how delicious the cheese eating surrender monkeys robbed on their own turf.

Does it get any better?

Just a shame CR7 couldn't deliver the knock out blow. As detestable a fuckface as he is that would have been glorious. However, I did take great pleasure in seeing the Liar's tear stained face. There is a God.

Of course, Pepe and his merry band of cheaters isn't great but to leave Frogland in utter dejection is delicious.

To see the water carriers brave overachievers get turned over is special. France's own Roy Hodgson couldn't raise his team to more than a few half chances from his golden generation.

Third best team in the group stages goes on to win the trophy, well done UEFA.

Très bon.

Any player that turns up for the second half of a European final would be a bonus.

On that criteria he's no better than what we currently have.

There are many obvious pros and cons in the whole immigration argument, but I don't think there's much debate about the "having a good football team" bit.

They may have lost the final, but France's team owes much to immigration and colonialism.

Griezmann is Alsation, Koscielney Polish. Then there's Matuidi, Pogba, Kante, Sagna, Umtiti, Sissoko, Mangala, Coman.

Say what you like about national identity and culture and whatever, that's a very fine set of footballers.

Portugal's are better though.

Tee hee...

Tony Cascarino in his roundup of Euro 2016, eulogising about Renato Sanches.

"If he was English everyone would be going mad about him"

OK.

First of all:

1) He isn't English, so it's understandable that the English media aren't "going mad about him".
2) He's not really flying under the radar, Tone. He's just been signed by Bayern Munich for £28m, one of the largest transfer fees in history for a teenager (if he is one).

Ronaldo after the Iceland game:
"It was unbelievable. When they don’t try to play and just defend, defend, defend, this in my opinion shows a small mentality".

Pretty much summed up Portugal in the knock-out stages. I would say that there has never been a less worthy champion. Also, Ronaldo going off injured did not make the slightest difference, as the negative game plan had no need to change.

Greece.

What the fuck is that shit?

Ha, I'm not sure where Binny got that bizarre photo. It's like a ridiculous game of catchphrase.

So, "say what you see".

We have Super Ron in a cape holding the winning trophy, but it's his team mates that have carried out the actual 'slaying' to achieve it.

Twice Griezemann has fallen at the last hurdle and Neuer has fallen short in both semi finals. To imply that, Neuer is in a burning kart behind Griezemann.

"It's not it, but it's a good answer".

Haha, yeah, there was an earlier picture.

Anybody else think Pogba-Matuidi CM partnership was a bit Gerrard-Lampard like? I.e. stifling both their attacking games.
